*Update* Creaking Roof...
#21
My roof just started to creak the other day (just a bit not too much) so I stopped by the dealer to address it. They told me that it is a somewhat normal thing that Scion knows about and is working on it (It makes sense to me that this would happen from chassis flex w/o the structural integrity of a "solid" roof.)
They also told me that Scion may be considering a conventional roof next year as opposed to our all glass roof. Hmmm, maybe the 05's will become a somewhat limited edition model?
This is only from the dealer and not someone directly from Scion...so take it with a grain of salt.
Cheers,
Josh

yeah our tC does the same thing, especially since we've lowered it 2"
im not that worried its expected from a car that has a full glass top, juss like convetibles and targas...
...my cousin had a honda del sol, and everytime i drove it. it squeaked like crazy along the b pillars...
bottom line is...the tC will keep maikng that noise, it comes in the territory of having a full glass top
...maybe if somone made a c or b pillar brace, similar to the bbist c-pillar bar, then maybe it would help with the noise, and also increase structural rigidity :?:

"Ok here's what the tech did. When he called Scion HQ they instructed him to do the following:
1> Remove the two bolts in the support beams, shalack them up with Lock Tite, and re-torque the two bolts back into the support structure.
2> Re-secure insulation lining (moved around from the bolts backing out)
3> Slap it all back together and pray that the Lock Tite keeps it secure enough so that it doesn't back out again."
=======================================================
Where are these bolts?? I'd rather do this myself then to take it to a dealer!!

not solved.
i spent 35 minutes looking around for the manual..
are these bolts like under the headliner? If its that involved i might just have the dealer do it.. but from reading this thread it sounded like it could be a quick / do it yourself type fix

I had that creaking every time i pulled out of my driveway with that 1-2 inch drop...
A little sound from above would disturb me..
Its been about a month and ahalf since i had the car..
And it had broken in nicely at 1,500 miles...
The sound went away for me...
I havent heard any crashes/ creaks/ snaps/ crackles/ pops from anywhere besides the trunk where i have deodarant/ febreeze/ and some other what not...( gettin a crate for all that)
i think it just needs time to settle down... Maybe the sun hit the roof long enough to expand something and make a snug fit... I dono
But you never know there may be some call backs.
You have to keep in mind it is a brand new Model/make...
They are still finding the little tweaks to fix....
just saying my creak went away

just picked up my tC yesterday and i was very happy( didnt want to start a new thread ) today , Ive experienced the creak in the moonroof and im definitely not going to wait for it to go away. Im going to make the dealer fix it because they fixed my gf's creaking moonroof... its pretty annoying when you hit bumps but i know that the dealer can take care of it.
oh yeah, if they do decide that theres a problem wiith this car and decide to do a recall... do you get the same car back or do you get a new? do you get a loaner? has anyone experieced this recall....

I'm still shopping for my next car but I keep coming back to the tC coupe--it's just the right size, has enough power, and I really like the styling. Stilll, I consider the panoramic roof a negative point. But look at this two-year-old thread from the BenzWorld forum regarding the panoramic-roofed C class coupe:
Does this sound familiar? You bet it does. This is almost verbatum from posts on the ScionLife forum. I've never seen a C sport coupe with a panoramic roof. Does anyone have any experience with that car and has Mercedes solved their problem? The BenzWorld forum is at www.mbnz.org/forums/
Creaks Panorama roof on C sportcoupe
Who is experiencing same complaints about the panoramic sunroof on C-sportcoupe? It creaks when driving on uneven pavement and going over speedbumps diagonally. Please give me some input. Is this a construction fault?
Re: Creaks Panorama roof on C sportcoupe
I don't have one of these cars, but both of the conditions that stimulate the creaking are such that it must be bodyshell flexing that's the culprit. Undoubtedly, the lack of a proper roof would somewhat compromise the stiffness of the bodyshell, compared to the regular car and certainly compared to the sedan. I am fairly sure about that. Now whether the creaking can be minimised by some sort of adjustement, I don't know. In any case, the root cause is bodyshell flex.

Strange
I have 3500 miles on my tc. First 1000 miles never heard the crack. From 1000 to 2500 miles I heard it all the time. Now for the last 1000 miles and about 3 weeks I have not heard the crack even once! I wonder if somehow it "fixes" itself as everything breaks in.

Everyone thinking they might be able to tighen these bolts yourself think twice. To get the headliner out on these you need to remove every piece of the interior from the door panels back and the pillar covers in the front also. Had to do this today on a tC, apparently this tC was missing the bolts that hold the sunroof on the passenger side from the factory!

My sunroof has creaked from day one, often in fact. I've just past the 900 mile mark and now I'm noticing it doesn't happen nearly as much. I have an appt. Saturday at the dealer, I hope I can get it to happen for the tech. I also wonder if I should cancel and see if it gets better. I'd hate to have them pull it apart and somehow make the problem worse.
