07 Scion TC Base Auto -VS- 07 Honda Civic EX Coupe Auto
#22
I went from a 96 Accord EX coupe to a 07 tc.
One reason that I didn't buy a Honda again was the insurance cost, Hondas are one of the most expensive cars to insure - in Los Angeles.
The Civic gets more MPG, but consider dealer markup as oppose to Toyota's pure pricing.

I have tc and all i can say is tc is more show less gow. its roomier but softer. Civic coupe is alot smaller, i could not fit in coupe. personally i say go for the civic. takes less gas and more fun to drive. i am not sure about insurance tho you should prob check that and i think honda has special financing or something. TC never gets any special. unless you rencently graduated form college, i think you get 500 or somehting. if you want a comfortable car get tc. if you want a sporty car get civic.

The "only" GOOD body style Civics were the 92-95 & 96-00 styles after that they became HELLA butt fugly looking...
You forgot to mention the tC:
- More rear seat room...since tC had longer wheelbase!
- Better looking front end!!!..doesnt look like it got Chopped off like the Civic.
- Easier to change oil too!
I might be miss'in some other things...
I am a Honda dude by heart...the Honda Designs after 00 just made me Puke...thus going w/ a tC!!!"Hotnezz"

Wow. Thank for the replies guys. I will think hard. Luckily time is on my side, I can wait until the 2008 models roll out to see what new and exciting changes Scion and Honda brings. But I will basically have to buy a car by the end of this year.
I like the Civic's Gas mileage, but I do want a sporty car. I am only 20 lol. I still want to have fun.

Wanna know what helped me choose between the civic and the tC? The **** honda dealer, they REALLY helped me buy a tC. But thats just my story. Hmm, they're both great cars, i guess u'll just have to go repeatedly test drive them and imagine what u'll feel more comfortable driving for years to come.

Other than that, just buy the one you like.

tC is on a fixed price and you have to pretty much expect that there is no way the dealer is going to let go of a EX without markups. (EX is hot item, and there are plenty of buyers willing to fork the dough over)
to me EX isn't worth the price tag. couldn't even get them to quote me a price w/o options. swear to god it's impossible to find civics without options.

If the test drives still don't seal the deal on which car to purchase, then base your decision on dealer experience. The people who sold you the car will be the people who take care of you if something goes amiss. A lot of my family's decisions to buy anything depends on the way it was sold.
Salesman was ignorant: give him the finger
Salesman was very hospitable: give him the cash

it takes longer to stop, it's slower to a 1/4 (and 0-60) and the suspension isn't any better then tC.

Well I'll throw my .02 into the mix:
The Civic EX coupe auto & tC arent really that far apart in price. In MSRP's yes.. But i'm letting EX 2drs out of here for 18.2 inc destination no add ons. Si's are the only ones demanding near list.
I like the comfort of the seats in the Civic better than the tC. I also think the tc's back seat is useless for tall passengers. Most of the time my seats are flat anyway.
I bought the tC bcuz it has full ipod integration, black interior, roof, the hatch & the mods available give it a fun factor the civic doesnt have. But, I'll only have it another year or so anyway... Accord coupe is dropping in fall

honestly, gas prices have nowhere to go but up. if you're gonna save, its gonna be cents, not dollars.

Here are a few key points why:
Civic:
-Better gas mileage
-5 sd auto tranny
-Cool interior (Although some don't like it) Gotta love the digital dash!
-4 Doors (doors don't feel like they weigh 200lbs., and easier to get in/out)
-Smaller gap between wheel and body (the civic owns the tightest gap for this class)
-Smoother ride
-300 lbs. or so lighter
-Has a REAL trunk
-Includes Security System & remote trunk
-Slightly bigger Interior (You feel like you're in an Accord)
-Smaller pillars and less blind spots
-Air Filtration Built-in
-Airbags, Side Airbags, and Curtain Airbags included!
-(so far) I haven't heard of any rattling sounds in the Civic
-Folding Mirrors
-Back seat has a center console w/ cup holders
-Coin Pocket!
-2006 Motor Trend's car of the year

Wow, I can't believe people still complain about the blind spots on the tC. LEARN HOW TO DRIVE PEOPLE!!!
I think it was AAA that came out with an article YEARS ago that advices that everybody point their side view mirrors way out. Doing this allows the cars to exit the rear view mirror and enter the side view mirror. When they leave the side view mirror, they are visible in your window. DONE! sheeeeesh!

I also saw a commercial how civic is best in resale value, case u get tired of it. I agree with that cuz my 2001 civic held is value when i sold it. I really like fact that the tc's doors are sturdy. BUt theres something unique bout a honda interior, i like how it shines when u clean it with armor all, unlike tc, u cant see it. Also those gauges pwn in blue. BUt, tc is faster, ud prob be thinkin how the tc is faster than ur car when u see it on the street. Up to u, prob like dude above said, ur decision would be made by how dealers do business. Honda u gotta haggle n stuff, and wonder if ur getting right price. Scion u dont.

Some More things I dont like about the New Civic:
- the Fugly 2-tier Dash...looks cheesy!!
- They didnt use the European front-end for the US version...
- I still think the civics before the year 2000 look WAY better!
