Default 07 Scion tC Key Fob Question

I noticed on my new 07 tC that the key design from the 06 is different. Instead of all the buttons being connected with a plastic rubberish material they are each individually seperated, with a fourth button hole not used. Does anyone know what this fourth button hole is for? Alarm? Etc? Just curious.

Default Key Fob

Well they changed the keys for the 07 slightly. There is no more rubber thing on it. Now it has cut outs for buttons and there are 4 cut outs. One for lock, one for unlock, and one for panic, the fourth cut out is still covered with plastic (not cut out). I was wondering if an alarm button goes there or something else, some feature I did not get.

The key fob is borrowed from the Camry and the fourth button is for the trunk release.

i don't like the new keys... but yeah.. there wasn't a 4th button on the 05-06 either.. but if you open it up... you can see there could be something there.. but there's not.

Is it just my key, or does anybody else's tC key kinda bent?

If you look at it horizontally (from the side) it's not straight anymore...

I'm curious if it has bent from me turning the ignition on...

Is it possible to swap it w/ the 07 rav4 key? And where is the chip stored in the key? I took apart my whole key, taking out the remote and the back cover along with the buttons, the only thing left was the metal key part and i tried to start the car and it worked!

It's probably embedded in the metal part of the key

RFID tags can be pretty dang small
