wtf are you talking about.
its physically impossible for a car to hit redline and keep making power...
i had an 08 and now have an 09...
they both have redlines and they both cut off.

It shuts off the fuel at the redline to keep the motor in one piece.......there are a few times gettign onthe freeway I dropped to a lower gear and punched it and it redlines and does not go.......no need to go higher with the motor anyway as power drops off greatly at high RPMS withthe 2.4.

i think he means that with a 07 MT tC you could only shift up to 6k RPMs... and with his 08 he can shift at 6500 RPMs

I think you mean around 6200 though.. thats the highest my 08 tC goes

edit: you might wanna change the title to revlimiter

you would probably need the ecu for an 08 tc to do that.

he means that when you rev the engine to redline, instead of the fuel cut off making the tachometer bounce off the rev limitor, it gets to redline and stays there. really isn't worth the trouble to do.

My friend has the same problem.... He has a 07 and he asked me does mine do that cuz i got an 08 and i said no. He didn't believe me so I took him for a ride and it lets me go past 6200... The most i went up to was 6500 and still had no fuel cut... He gets one right at 6200 so when he shifts he has to shift at 6k so he doesn't get fuel cut....

well if you 08 guys wanna blow ur engine keep doing that. But as for me and my 07 i like the fuel cutoff in case i mis-shift or lose sight of what i am doing and forget to shift. lol

Why do you want to do that anyway? It's only like 300 more RPM's, and like someone said, you start losing HP at... I don't know what RPM, probably around 5K.

besides what everyone has said here, if you rev that high a lot you will kill the motor sooner, period. When you rev that high, you are putting more and more stress on the bearings inside your motor (specifically the crank bearings and rod bearings) and more stress on the timing chain.

You want something to raise the rev limiter... but not a standalone or a piggyback?

How in the hell would you want to do it then? I could photoshop a different tach background if you want... then just glue it on there or something.

Figuring it out and learning aside... shifting that high is a really awful idea. I feel bad enough doing it during autox.

i think the 05-06 and 08 tc's the rev limiter bounces at about 6250 rpm and the 07 doesnt why i dont know......no tc goes up to 6500 rpm's unless the ECU has been programed to do so..once it hits the point it looses power
