2007 tC and the iPhone 5
I guess since the iPhone 5 is still relatively new, not much posting about it. But I am trying to use the iPhone 5 with my 2007 tC, and cannot get it to work. The cable and my Scosche adaptor works great on my 3GS, but no dice with the iPhone 5.
Anyone had luck with getting their 5 to charge/play using the cable?
Or do I have to invest in a new Head Unit?
Pictures are of what I have.

Apple mentioned stuff like this happening when the iPhone 5 dropped that it may be incompatible with previous accessories. Unless Scion/Pioneer or who ever made your unit drops some new firmware for your HU, you may have to invest in a new HU and make sure its iPhone 5 compatible.

OK, I learned a lesson today. Went to Best Buy and asked them about it. Showed them what I had, and they said that it wasn't an official Apple product (which I knew it wasn't since I only paid $9 for it). So I bought an official Apple one ($29.99), but not expecting it to work (since there is a 30 day return policy).
Tried it in the car, and it works perfectly. Charges the iphone 5, and plays music through the factory unit, and I can control it through the steering wheel.
Moral of the story, you get what you pay for.

Ahhh, that will do it too. Sometimes even as a tech head I miss the painfully obvious and didn't think to ask about the connector you were using. Glad it worked out for you!

You have to get the Scosche adaptor as well. it goes in-between the car cord and the iphone 5 adaptor. I've attached a picture of what it should look like now.
The adaptor you need is: http://www.scosche.com/consumer-tech/product/1667
It doesn't say for iphone 5, but it does work. I'd take a picture of it charging my phone, but I use my phone to take the picture.
But the adaptors are all over ebay/amazon. Most are around $15. Just make sure it's Scosche and not an imitation!
Now with the Scosche adaptor and the 30-pin to lightning adaptor, you can CHARGE and PLAY the iphone 5 through the factory unit.
Hoep this helps!

As a reference, I just bought the Scosche adapter on eBay and it works great with my iPod Touch 4th Generation in my '08 xB (I don't have the Lightning adapter issue).
Good advice to be sure to buy a genuine Scosche device. I saw several which say "out of original package" or some such, but I felt it worth it to be patient and get one in the original plastic finger-slicing package. I managed to win an auction @ $16 w/shipping rather than the $19 or so plus shipping several BuyItNow listings were at.

Maybe there is a software update?

I'm in the boat of having the factory provided ipod cable... factory pioneer deck... the Apple adapter... and the iPhone 5... and no charge.
Music plays, so that's cool, just wish it charged as well. Oh well, I hope the epic battery life continues through the life of the phone. Compared to my last phone (htc evo4g) i don't think the battery life can get any worse.
