3M Clear Bra Alternative?

3M Clear Bra Alternative?
I was just talking to a local 3M certified tech this AM about putting their clear bra on my IIP tC. He stated that he had a product that would look better on it then the 3M stuff because my car is dark and it's hard to do dark cars w/ the 3M material...there is an orange peel look to it I guess?
Anyways, the brand he said was Matico (spelling??). He said it went on a lot nicer then 3M and had a lifetime warranty, not just 5 years like 3M.
Has anyone else out there done the 3M or a 3M alternative clear bra kit? Likes/dislikes? Anyone know anything about Matico? I think I've searched Google and here and see they do tinting???
Thankx.

The guy I spoke with gave me an estimate of $500-$600, he has to take a look at the car as he has not done a tC yet. He said the color of the paint and the angles and what not will determine the price...
But I trust the guy because he says that he has some Porche's that he is doing right now and if I stop in tomorrow he can show me a little about the process. I'll let you all know what I find out.

They are another option. Although you have to email them for a list of installers and they never got back to me. It's been over 3 weeks and nothing, so I won't be getting their product if they can't do something as simple as tell me where to get it done.

uhhh, i did a lot of research on this one, 3M is warrantied nationwide at any dealer where it is carried, up to 10 years, SET(southeastern toyota) well the dealership i go to is installing 3M at their dealership, i dont think 500-600 is realistic, maybe it is i ll go tommorow to find out, ORANGE PEEL----WTF? You get what you pay for, thats all i got to say, i aint trying to start some fight but this post was just my 2 cents, if you go to 3M's site they got a video explaining the whole process and everything,
so does Car & driver---The only downside i have read or heard about is the fact that it doesnt look as shiny as regular paint does---small price to pay ecsp when you can still wax and wash it and keep it clean, prevent damage to your paint and make the resale value prolonged if not go up.................I'll find the links tonight and hook yall up.....

Listen man, I'm just going by what I was told over the phone by the guy today. He told me that the 3M product doesn't look as good on darker cars as it does lighter ones.
Also, why wouldn't $500 to $600 be realistic? The materials only cost around $125 all together, precut.
I'm just getting it because I want to reduce the number of nicks and chips on the front end of this car...

I've got a 3M product on my Flint Mica. It looks good on a dark car. If it's really clean and well installed, there won't be any drawbacks on these sort of colors, but I'll admit that FM has more sparkle to it than IIP does, so your car will be a bit more picky. But I have a hard time believing there will be much difference and in the end you might wish you went with the thing that most people have heard of.
Oh... and 500-600 is realistic. The material costs more than 125 precut. I bought a cheap ___ 3M kit off of some ebay store and it was 250. Don't be confused by what the bulk material goes for - unless you're cutting from scratch, it doesn't matter. The installation is pretty work intensive to do right, so it's about 50/50 split, and it will come out to an easy 500, probably higher all told.
And it's worth it.
