Default 6 cylinder tC?

Does anyone know about a 6 cylinder tC? A buddy of mine told me he say a 6 cylinder tC in oceanside, ca at one of the performance shops! I am assuming it was either a engine swap or he is just blowing smoke! But either way I thought I might ask if anyone knows of any 6 cylinder tC's out there?

Also any ideas on what a good (minimal fabrication and modification) 6 cylinder engine would be to swap out with our 4 cylinder? Possibly one that has potential for high numbers making the swap worth the time! No point in putting all the money into a swap that would only give you minimal gains in the long run!

Someone i know talked about putting the new Camry's engine in his tC... not sure if it's possible, I'm no mechanic...
doubt the next gen tC is going to be a 6 cyl. Scions are meant to be cheap, not performance. next Gen is coming out 2010 so I've read...

swaps aren't worth it IMO. for the same price for a swap, you can get a decent turbo setup and have twice the power of a V6 swapped in.

There are no 6 cyl tCs out there without an engine swap, which might I add is a rarity seeing as it is slightly difficult to retrofit it for the engine bay. There has been talk, but I haven't seen too many.

you are not going to fit a bigger engine in the tC without some MAJOR overhaul and custom fab.

For sure, with the right amount of money, you can do anything.

the right amount of money can easier buy you a car with a V6 or V8 already loaded!

I'd much rather see a 2-rotor engine in a tC than a 6 or 8 cyl.

It would be cool to see the V6 that comes in the new Camry. The tC would be pretty quick. The new V6 Camry runs a 14.6 in the quarter as told by Motor Trend and does 0 to 60 in 6.1 secs. That would be a fun tC. It also has a 6 speed auto.

It would be cool to have a camry V6 in the tC, heck , while we're at it, lets make it RWD with a 6psd manual tranny....

You have to look at what niche the tC fills. If it were a V6 it wouldn't be in with the Civics and RSX's and Cobalts. I know the Tiburon has a V6 but it barely puts out more power than the tC's 2.4 liter, plus it's Asian, so it's cheap. A V6 tC would cost too much for it to remain in the class it's in now. Plus it would add to an already hideous weight bias of 60/40. It would have to be RWD to help balance out the extra weight, and once it's RWD, it's in a totally new class with 350Z's and Mustangs and RX8's. Also , if it were a RWD V6 you would have to change it's name to "the new Supra".

I'd fork out the extra cash for the "new Supra" if it was a V6 tC body 6speed RWD LSD in a heart beat.....

While were at it lets make it AWD....more fun

I second that! I would trade my 350Z for a Toyota like that! Take the 3.5 V6 outa the IS350, put it in the tC body with a 6spd manual, RWD or AWD (anything but FWD). with some nice 18's, big brakes, a nice stiff suspension. Maybe a funtional hoodscoop. Then put in some nice gripping sport seats and a... Now I'm just day dreaming... lol
