Default 9005 to 9006 conversion

i'm not too sure if this topic has been covered or whatnot but with the TC you can swap out your 9005 bulbs (high beams) to your 9006 (low beams). i used to do this on my accord. in order to do this you need to shave the inner notch of the 9006 bulb then plug and play. just thought you guys would want to know if you wanted higher output without the HID conversion. For best results use those syvania super stars or whatever they were called.

if silverstars can fit, that would be the best way to go than having to deal with switching wiring harnesses and all of that. personally i wouldnt do that, i would just go and pick up a set of silverstars and call it a day.

pepboys ususally runs sales on them quite freqently.

I did this on my SVX with a pair of PIAA Platinum Super Whites, they definately are a lot brighter. 9005 bulbs are rated at about 1700 lumens, while 9006 bulbs are about 1000.

As long as your headlights are leveled correctly, and you use decent quality bulbs, most other driver's will not even notice. The lights that appear blinding are usually caused by headlights that are aimed to high or crappy bulbs with poor diffusion. I'm not sure about the tC's headlights, but mine are projectors, so there is a very sharp cut off line. If the tC's headlights are not projectors, then yes, installing brighter bulbs may be a bad idea. My headlights are perfectly level, and HIDs are rated at about 3000 lumens, so I'm not doing any more harm than they are.

On a side note, the 9005 bulbs have only about half of the life of a 9006 bulb, so if you use your lights a lot, expect to change them frequently.

Around here many streets do not even have street lights and deer are a big problem (I have the dent to prove it).

I did that to my Civic, makes a big difference.

Also there is no cutting of wiring harnesses, you just cut the tabs off of the bulb. I have a link to how I did it on my Civic...
