Am I too old to drive a Scion TC?
#22
Scions are marketed to a younger age demographic. That way when they get older, they will purchase
a Toyota.
Heck, I'm 38 and love my tC. I was going to get a MINI or BMW. I used the $8K+ I saved on those cars
for a down payment on a house! Don't regret my purchase one bit.
Don't settle for an Accord. Get an 'o5-'o8 Acura TSX. I think those look and feel way better than an Accord.

Marketed towards yes... did it happen that way? Not really.. they found that much older people than they were aiming at were buying them. I RARELY see an xB around here that does not have a gray haired driver. I see a huge mix of tC drivers, from teens to grandma's. Its a car, if you like it, drive it. The people that say "oh thats a kids car" are the people that will be crotchety old men when they are 40

Well Im 20 and drive a tc and boyfriend is 19 and drives an 08 accord coupe.
Believe me your never to young or old for a car.
It all depends on what you like.
I def. prefer my tc over his accord, but he doesnt think so.

AaronTC -
i'm 29 as well - will be 30 in april. i bought my '08 in december of '07 and still love the feeling i get every time i get behind the wheel. i too worried about the age bit, but it will quickly dissipate.
not exactly sure what your situation is, but here's my reasons for choosing the tc:
1. needed more than two seats. i have a wife and 4 year old son. that right there eliminated vettes, vipers, and the 350.
2. wanted something that i could maintain myself without ten bajillion dollars worth of tools and software. that eliminated bmw, lexus, benz, and infiniti.
3. wanted to be able to pay it off in less than a year.
4. wanted to be able to mod it without warranty fears - minimal mods at first.
5. i want it to last. that took out the mustang, and basically all of the big three models i was looking at.
6. i didn't want anything made by goonions. my wife's family used to work in the plants for the big three. no way in hell will i compromise my family's safety in something built to the specs they told me about.
if i had to go back and choose all over again, i'd probably get a tc again. i've had it for 12 months and have had almost 13,000 trouble free miles. i put my system from my 4runner in it and added the in-channel window visors so far, but i still love it.
so that's my .02. best of luck with your decision!!!

It is up to the person really. My older brother (25 or older) used to drive a 2003 Saab 93 and my job makes me travel so the tC just sits. Anyway he had to borrow my tC for a week. He said he liked it, fun to drive, good handling and all that, But he still loved his leather and all of the other jazz that he got with the Saab. Plus he liked the more room in his car. The only car that I was really wanting was 2006 or newer Accord V6 leather with the 6-speed. That is hard to find though. And the head unit install in that car is nutz. It all comes down to what you like and can afford. For me the tC was the right choice and it seems like it was for you too. Don't listen to everyone telling you what you can and can't drive do to age.

I'm turning 25 next week...does owning a Scion makes me old? lol
"Bullitt" was my dream car in '06. Lucky for me, I got better job. I wanted Bullitt as my 2nd car while owning '06 xA. Dealer disagreed and told me "If you really like this car, you'll have to trade in the xA?"
What they didn't know is, I left my license in the xA. So the salesman let me drive the tC to the xA and I parked next to my other "Bullet." He left me for few minutes to get test drive plate. I actually thought the tC was too much car for a fun weekend car while I'm comparing the two.
So I traded in the xA for the tC.
My current reach dream car is Lexus IS 250 or classic VW Bug.
