Default Anyone had their tC stolen?

I had a friend that recently told me that one of his co worker had their tC stolen and that made me think. I know that our cars have the chip transponder which help theives to deter from stealing tCs but how well does that chip transponder work? Is there really away to go around the chip to steal our cars?

Tow truck. Typically no one questions a car getting towed from a parking lot or on the street in major metropolitan areas... especially if the tow truck looks legit. It's a big problem here in L.A.

thats why you should always lock the wheel in one direction after you shut off the engine...it makes it harder to load onto a flat loader truck

this is what you have insurance for...people are jerks

You know, I never ever even thought of that, such a simple solution to give some peace of mind. Thanks.

Got the Viper 330v upgrade alarm installed, bought an autolock for the clutch, and I always turn the wheel to the curb when I park.

just turn your steering wheel all the way to one side while parking, turn off the engine and pul the steering wheel a little more till you hear/feel a click from the steering column.

there u go all done wheels locked, also if u got a manual leave it in gear.

or we should all get viper alarms with the remote key alert and a large gun proabably a .45 cal. then when the alarm goes off rush to the car, and place 2 bullets in each of the intruders thighs then one in the shoulder for good measure.

then prepare to speed away very quickly and dont forget to leave your car in the garage for at least a week or two afterwards for youll probably be wanted for murder or at least attempted. but we all know that you were just standing for the sake of justice so the thieving SOB can die for all we care worthless pieces of S#!7

Unfortunately, none of this we'll prevent a tow truck from towing your tC, even if it is a roll back (4 ton wench vs. 2 ton car). Most competent tow truck drivers know how to get around those methods using dollies, GoJacks, etc... especially on a front wheel drive car. Once you get the front wheels in the air and cut the parking brake line, your tC can be on it's way to a chop shop without much delay.

one major thing that most do and dont realize it...

DONT PARK YOUR CAR BACKWARDS INTO PARKING SPOTS

this is just a dead giveaway you want your car towed, a truck can just slide in and slide out.. but if you against a parking block then they will have a hard time

and i alays turn my wheels, it makes it harder.. this way they have to do ALOT more to get my car on the truck, and this will stall them

Actually it's the opposite.

When your car is normally parked the rear locked brakes are in the back, they simply lift and pull your ___ away. Even if you lock your wheels to the side almost all tow trucks have lift dollys. They just place one under each front wheel and pump, pump your car is now on rollers.

When your car is parked backwards as warned against above, its is actually a little harder. They locking element on the handbrake is in the back and the only option is to drag your ___ up (or again use the dollys). In this case it is easier as they do not need to deal with the steering element.

Lesson in point. Doesn't even matter, the tow guy will get your car. Its their friggin job, you would think they would be pretty good at it.

LIFT DOLLY HOMMIES,

Ever since this was invented the jig is up, don't even need a tow truck, just roll your ___ away.

Anyone see that KCAL9 episode when they were catching tow drivers stalking meters then towing immediately after time expiration. They were videotaped completely towing the cars away out less than one minute from the expiration.

I ALWAYS (did I say always? cuz I meant always) park backwards! I'm known for parking backwards, in fact, its a butt of jokes sometimes! Lol, I just do it because it is a hell of a lot easier to leave, I think it looks cooler, and I guess its harder to tow. Too bad my blazer isn't slammed like the one in the pic I left above! :D

I've experienced first hand in SF a tow truck "attempted" to tow my old skoo beatercar ('92 Camry) cause I parked it in a "u must be this customers parking spot (BK) (parking like normal - forwards mind u ^).
I went to go eat (@ a real place) and when I came back I literally witnessed him trying to tow my beatermobile
That Fool took a chain & hook, punctured my perfectly fine tire and "attempting to pull it from its spot cause he couldn't get to it from that angle. SCANDALIS BASTARD!!!!

As I caught him in the act, he said... And I quote: "...oh...that tire was already flat when I got here...", so I responded with: #@!%#$@^%#*^*&*^*^%$^$#%$#@$#@%#$^%$&%!!!!!!!!
Long story short, I thought about going into da food place a buying a l'il something so I can screw that fool over, but wasn't thinking clear due to my rage. He busted a $idepocket move otherwise it woulda been $$$ to get it out of their yard + a flat.
