Anyone have a "trunk" release in their tC?
I'm thinking about getting one. Would they work on a tC? Also, do they open up just a little or do they open up all the way. If they open up all the way, I'll definitely get one.

he means a trunk release that allows remote trigger of the trunk.
i.e. you're carrying groceries and instead of fumbling around putting the key in the hole, you press a button that triggers the trunk to release. now, all you have to do is pull it open.
this is often an option with alarms

project,
i know it's possible with your alarm but i'm not sure what you need. it might hook up directly to the alarm or you might need a trunk release relay. i wont' even have my TC until tuesday so i don't even know yet. if you have to pull a latch to open the trunk, you'll need a solenoid. if it's an electrical push button, you will only need a trigger since there will already be a solenoid installed.
did you install your own alarm?
i plan on doing the same alarm install or the clifford matrix 3.5 which is the same alarm.

I don't think that it would function very well. You would probably have to install a motor to raise the trunk enough for the shocks to open it all the way. I believe the hatch is too heavy to just pop up easily.
My friends BMW has a trunk release on the key that essentially serves the same purpose as the button underneath the trunk handle. It releases the grips on the hatch (or trunk in the BMW's case), but you still have to manually raise it.

yeah put its due to the hyrdaulic pumps. if i put some sort of lube or something on it like my KY Jelly that i keep in my drawer i bet it would go all the way up ... OOPS did i say that outloud

It's a one-wire hookup for the alarm. Mine's got it.
It's about stupid though, just because all it does it pop it. You still have to pull the hatch open, and you may as well just press the hatch button to do it.. I just did it for a while-I'm-in-there thing when I was installing the alarm.

Right... you can't remotely pop the hatch and have it actually open unless you installed some servos or something. In warm weather, a little push and it will open itself (but it still needs the push). Especially in the cold, those hydraulic cylindars don't work so good so it seems to need extra help - pretty standard. Fine with me. When it opens all on it's own, it usually hits the bolts on my garage door... *cringe*
