Default anyone here regret NOT getting the spec tc?

I kind of regret it, I paid extra for the wheels and sunroof, when I ended up not using either.
I couldve saved myself money!

I use the sunroof once in a while, but rarely, and the stock wheels got switched out the moment I left the lot.

ah well. live and learn.

16" steelies, fixed roof, no cruise control, no steering wheel controls, no security system (engine immobilizer), cheap seats, cheap grille, no chrome in the headlight housings, fewer color options.

really? I thought the grills and seats were the same.

Ill have to check my friends spec tc. I thought the grill looked the same

anyhow engine immobilizer is good. Those dont come with spec tc?

after searching online the difference I can only find noted on websites is the spec tc uses different seat fabric had no motorized roof and 16" wheels.

the grille can easily be replaced with a better aftermarket grille
fabric is fabric for seat covers, it can just be replaced with aftermarket seat covers that are better than stock tc fabric covers or replaces with racing seats
and wheels are usually the first big mod done to the tc aside from lowering springs.

Nope, no immobilizer. There is a little gap on the HVAC:

Different seat material:

No chrome lining around the grille:

Or headlights:

Also, no plastic engine cover:

Cheaper armrest:

Stolen links FTW! :D

the immobilizer is the only thing really worth while

all the other stuff is usually replaced very inexpensively with aftermarket accesories that look better and cost cheaper than the regular stock tcs

and I like those head lights better than the chromed out ones I currently use on my tc. dechromed headlights ftw!

hmmm I thought there was only the RS series and the regular simple tC's. All the tC's i've ever seen at the dealer had power sunroofs and all that jazz. I don't recall buying a Spec tC but mine has a plastic engine cover better armrest etc. then again all that stuff could have been made standard at a later point I have an 07.

To chris the Spec wasn't really advertised by the salespeople and there weren't many sent to dealerships also. It was really more of a special order type of deal, so you don't have a Spec by what you posted.

The Spec package was first released as an 07 model and is the most simple package for the tC as it is "stripped down". The base tC is the standard model(power sunroof, cruise control, audio steering controls, etc etc) and the Release Series can be considered the higher end though it's really all looks. I love how the chrome on the headlights and grill is blacked out [on the] my Spec. My carbon fiber hood works with the wheel covers on the 16s

I actually painted the chrome rim around my grille black because it looked so good on the spec. And I like the headlights better too. I'd like to have spec headlights as well. But, as a whole, I'm glad I don't have the spec. I like my car and you don't save that much money buying the spec. That, and it wasn't even available when I bought my car.

Are you planning on keeping it a secret or something? I'm positive I could get them from anyone with a spec who replaces their stock lights. You've got a better idea?

I see A LOT of Spec tcs out here. Its not even funny how many I see. But I wouldn't have got a Spec over a base tc

I don't see that many, but i agree with you, no way I would have gotten a spec. Not enough money savings to justify all the things you're giving up.

losing most of what makes the tC cool and only getting a small break in price for it (about 1400 or so when they first came out) ? No... dont quite regret that. I think the spec is a terrible deal personally.

I've only seen 2 or 3 spec tC's down here in Phx.

I almost got a spec, but thank god I didn't.

Well put. I can't imagine having a non-functional sunroof, and that's just the beginning of my qualms with the spec tC.
