Default Anyone use their tC for autocross (solo II)?

Currently, I have an 85 MR2 which I use for autocross (when Westchester Sports Car Club actually has a place to run). Eventually, I would like to use my tC, but I would like to know what everyone's experience has been. Additionally, what size wheels/tires do you run?

I autocross mine. Stay stock, or you will quickly be out of your league. I ran stock and was ok, I am now way out of class and the modded WRXs and all kill me. But I still have fun. I have alot of pictures and advice from ym runs if you want to check them out. There are threads on here of it.

i have been for over a year and a half. its awesome.

i do pretty well. i stay in STS. any other place and i'd be outclassed instantly. i ran on yokohama es100 215/45-17 for a long time. they work great if you can drive it right.

now i have some falken rt-615s 225/45-17 for autox. going this sunday :D i cant wait.

best advice is to learn to handle extremely well. power isnt a big deal in a tc at autox. 2nd gear is perfect in a 5spd. but if you can steer it without understeer, that is the key. shift the weight around well.

http://hunterunknown.com/autox/

lots of pictures in there of me and my friends. videos too. "Autox.wmv" is a recent one. all the others are from my very first autox's. stock :D yay. anyway. its good fun. you really learn to be a better driver.

Hunter, what's up. Happy birthday from a fellow las vegan. Wondering, for autox is it better to run a supercharger with the tc or turbo, or does it matter?

the s/c would be better because the power output will be there always constant while the turbo has lag. you could do a setup with a turbo that doesn't have too much lag and it could also be used. It all depends in the setup.

Good then I am going to get the supercharger. By the way, has anybody heard any updates on the 07 tc's stage 2 supercharger?

A centrifugal supercharger (aka the trd) presents a delay close to that of a turbo. Not quite as bad, but by thinking that it is a linear power delivery you are thinking of a roots blower, not a centrifugal unit. A properly sized turbo will do you fine. But for autox I wouldnt go very big at all. You dont want huge amounts of power to the front wheels or you will have issues driving it correctly on a tight course.

I used to autocross my 04 civic, and I did fairly well, got first place in my class a few times (FSP). That was one hell of an awesome handling FWD car I built.

I'm now in the process of buying all my sets of wheels/tires for the tc, as well as some suspension parts, before I go out for the year. Stock, the car handles like a camry, but I'm hoping that with my mods, I'll be able to remain fairly competitive.

Question, if I were to get my tc up to the level of being Street Prepared, what class would I be in? (A, B, C, D, E, F, etc)? (yes I know the tc is obviously not an a/b/c car, but what is it? )

depends on the kind of supercharger but as its been said, it probably wont make a ton of difference. a well balanced turbo setup would benefit you the most. but then again, the turbo isnt going to get as much time taken off the clock as say, suspension and drivetrain upgrades.

also, thanks! :D you coming to this sunday's autox?

According to the SCCA web site, the unmodified tC is classified as H-stock.

I believe if you run all trd suspension parts it will fall in STS correct?

Also, I have to say, this car handles in no way like a camry stock! It is not set up the same at all, and actually handles much better. Dont forget, other than an engine and a modified tranny, this car is in no way, shape or form a camry, any more than any of the hundreds of car models that ran a 350 chevy are the same.

i'm gonna be running some lightweight BBS 15x7s with 205/50/15 azenis....does this seem too small? (i already have everything though)

and by too small, i don't care about how it looks as they are going to be a track only setup.
