It was more of a measure of the auto's power more than anything.

I coulda sworn I could spin my tires better on dry roads a couple of months ago then I have been doing yesterday doing my 0-60 runs.

But that could've also just been my mind decieving me or me not remembering the roads were bad.

New tires tend to be stiff and the full contact patch has not been developed yet. Easy to spin the tires longer when they are new, as the pattern wears and the contact patch become full you should get better traction. I notice the rear end is not a twitchy as it used to be when it was new.

The only thing more stupid than trying to lay wheel in a FWD car is trying to lay wheel in a FWD car with an automatic transmission and torque converter in the way.

yeah please do not rev your engine in N then switch into gear with the revs up. . . . .ouch. . . .
the better way to spin the wheels with an auto is to have the car in gear, foot on the brake hard, then rev the engine and let off the brake real quick. . .

I was just thinking about this, but since we automatic owners dont have a clutch, is it bad to manually shift our car

As I repeatedly said throughout the post, I can make the tires rotate a couple of times, but they soon grab hold on full throttle with a clean dry road.

I've also said that I'm pretty sure in the past that I could spin my tires alot better than I can now on the same clean dry road, but that was explained via the tire wear explanation.

In short, I was just paranoid about power loss to my car over time, and I was using being able to burnout as a measure of power between us AT drivers.

Rion, never did I say I was interested in laying wheel, which I take it you mean laying down rubber on the pavement. I was just interested to see if any AT drivers could spin their tires for more than a second using only full throttle, to make sure my car wasn't gimped

its true if your gonna nuetral-drop your car you might as well take a saws-all to it hack it up in tiny itty bitty pieces

my question is do you auto guys get wheel hop at all?...now that ive installed my headers w/my axle back exhaust..ive noticed some nasty wheel hop in 1st and 2nd..only chirped 3rd once or twice so far..tryin to take it easy especially with my newly discovered wheel hoppage....

i dont know if this happens to car tires but when you buy new tires for a street bikes it is extremly slippery when new. This is because during the molding process manufacturers use wax to seperate the rubber and the metal casts. You would have to ride the bike very easy for the first 150 miles or so that way you can safely scrub off the wax from the tires
