Mr. Clean's Auto Dry is the win... I was doing it in my driveway during the winter when it was 35 degrees... as soon as it got above freezing i was out there washing my car... Man did my hands hurt after that..
This thing works great though, I prefer to put their polymer soap into a bucket and hand scrub it for best results of course.

DO NOT go to the automatic carwashes that "touch". I have only gone through that once with my tC, and they used this giant broomstick (same ones janitors use to sweep cafeterias) to brush the headlights/taillights and rear. I have light scratch marks all over those areas now.
(a little off topic from the sunroof, but still carwash related)

Touchless Laser washes are fine for those real quick, have no time washes. I even use them every so often. Winter mostly. Just be sure to watch driving into them. Some are better than others. You could mess up a rim or parts of a body kit with some of those. Also those blowers blow pretty hard, but if I do use one I always choose the cheapest wash. The one I go to has a wash that doesn't dry it off. I bring my own drying towel and just dry it off. Doesn't take that long!
But yeah a hand wash is always best to do. IMO But sometimes you just don't have time to do it.

my TC should be coming into the dealer sometime this week (already been waiting for a week ). I don't have the ability to handwash my car (stupid condo association rules), so I have to go to a carwash. The only ones by my house are the kind that spray soap and then run the car through a gauntlet of automatic rollers of mops that brush the car. Is this a "touch" wash, if not wtf is a touch car wash?
In any case i guess my question is will the glass roof handle it? (it's a lease so I don't care that much about minor scratching, i'm sure the commute through jersey weather will cause that anyway).
Thanks.

I've taken mine to the "laser wash" numerous times and don't seem to have any problems. Actually heading there right now. I dry off the car with an "absorber" afterwards and clean the rims at home.

touchless carwashes do nothing, how can they clean and get the dirt off when they are "touchless" come on people i know you are smarter than that, wash it yourself, you actually get to touch the car, hence the car gets clean

Im sure that Scion designed the glass roof to be stong enought to hande the pressure. I just went through a touchless just to see what it was like, a little nerve racking at first but all is fine, dryer included. ill be going to these alot in the winter so i can keep the salt off but during the warm months ill do it all myself.
