Automatic tC's.. Do they suck? [Owners PLEASE Respond]

i have an auto too and i no complaints. my gf also drives my car and i'm lazy.
and sure, when there is no traffic here in central florida (which is about 5% of the time), i do wish i had MT on the open roads, but the other 95% of the time, as it's taking me 45 minutes to go 10 miles, i love the AT.
ps - the AT does get *slightly* better gas mileage than the MT ;^)

Now I have the auto TC and life is much better. You still can't beat the fun of a stick on the open road.

yup the auto's have enough pull in them to impress you. however, i think it doesnt react as quick, probably due to the throttle by wire. overall im satisfied but sometimes i have the urge to shift somethin

Thanks everyone. I'm planning to move BACK to NJ later this year, and if you don't know.. there are no "open" roads. lol. Even on the highways there is traffic.
I'm sticking with my Auto FM tC. Hopefully the TRD Exhaust + Injen CAI will help out a bit.

Auto is nice...
I've had about 50/50 manual/auto in my 28 years of driving - it all depends on the car, where you live, etc.
I live in LA and spend way TOO much time sitting in traffic. For that reason, and the fact that I rarely drive without a cup of coffee and my blackberry, I got the auto - and couldn't be happier.
When I was younger I never would have bought an auto - but I didn't live in LA then either.
Don't sweat it - the auto is smooth, powerful, and saves your left leg.

I've owned several different cars and trucks in the last 10 years...some of them manual, some of them auto. There is a lot to be said for the convenience of an auto tranny and driving a truck with a manual SUCKS!
That being said, driving a sports car with a manual is a whole different thing. I bought my tC with a manual because it is WAY more fun to drive! As for rush hour traffic, let's be honest...it sucks no matter what you are driving. Don't base your decision on that. Also, why not improve your skills driving the manual and teach your gf to drive it better as well. You'll both get better with practice!
It all comes down to your preference though...don't buy something you'll regret getting.

Rush hour(s depeiding on where you live *coughchicagoiscrazycough*) sucks. With a MT, it sucks even more. If I were to base this kind of decision on one factor alone, it'd be 'how long is your commute?' If its not long, like me, and stop-n-go is not a worry, MT baby! its the only way to drive, and besides, you get so used to it it becomes second nature. However, if, IF, you sit in a lot of traffic, all the time, every day to and from work, and you feel like you spend as much time sitting in traffic as you do at home, then AT it baby. Your legs will thank you, your patience will thank you, and if you suffer from raving spats of road rage, other drivers will thank you.
my 2 cents (coming from a MT owner)

as someone who previously owned an automatic tC and drives a MT tC now. I want to to choose ur car wisely and make sure u dont regret it. I did and everyday of that year was miserable to me until i couldnt' handle it anymore and traded it in for a MT. What can i say now? I'm loving it!

I guess AT is cool if you have a lot of traffic or if your not into racing etc. I hated the last AT I had, it was a tiptronic 2000 stratus v6 and when I got smoked by a civic off the line and thrashed by each raspy gearshift he made, I made my decision weeks later. Think your decision over good and don't have second thoughts when you end up side by side a MT tc and he starts to rev at you lol
