Default Back Bumper scrape IN NEED OF ADVICE

Well..where do I begin..My back bumper is ____ing me off to the point I can't sleep

First of, I'll get pics soon as possible

Lastnight (Sunday) I was with my friends and this kid I know but isn't my friend who was driving a 98 Camry I assume; was going to this place. I pulled to the side of the road and yes I signal and everything. All of sudden he hits my car back left bumper and scraped some paint off. My friend who was in the car with him told me he hit my bumper around 10 mph. Its not dented just scrape some paint off. I told him I want his insurance info and stuff he told me we can fix it with touch up paint i told him we're gonna go to the dealership me and him and sort this out and hes paying for it in cash. I told him if hes not gonna go with me tommrow(monday) i would go to his insurance company. My advice that i'm seeking is Should I get touch up paint or go to the insurance. I'm scared to go to the insurance because my parents do not know about it yet and someone told me your rate goes up if you get in an accident and its not your fault.

Thanks for your guys advices and reading this long post.

Your insurance won't get affected unless your insurance company pays for something. Since he hit your bumper, and he was at fault, then he it is his insurance company that will be paying unless he pays out of pocket. However, I'm not sure if your suppose to have a police report in order to go against his insurance company.

1. Go through insurance
2. your rates shouldn't go up if your not at fault
3. repaint the whole bumper, dont touch it up.

I didn't get a police report because I thought you do that when its 1k dollars of damage or more I assume it was minor. It states in MA you have five days to report it to the RMV.

i think you still need to be on the seen to make a police report.
Call his insurance with the info you do have. plate number etc.
Name yada yada.
Push to get the matter solved. DO NOT touchup paint. it'll not look the same.
Get it redone properly.
His fault, his penalty.
Your insurance doesn't raise unless you have fault and they need to pay for it.

It wasnt your fault, not sure why your scared to tell your parents. I would deff. go through insurance and get the thing repainted and done to make it look like the way it was before your were hit, thats the way it should be.

It's been said, but he rear-ended you.

It's not your fault, go get it re-done through insurance. Your insurance agent will call his insurance company, and they'll pay for the damage. Your premium will not go up.

if insurance tangles you up get a whole of the person who hit you and settle outside and let him pay cash after a receipt is seen. thats if no one wants their insurance to hurt them, but ONLY if you could trust the person who hit ya

short of him paying cash to a body shop to repaint it..........goto the insurance.........it would at best be around $200 to fix right.........never use the touch up paint for such a big area.........never.
