Got a Clifford two way paging with LCD alarm done at Best Buy for about $300. If you don't mind putting up with their BS and crappy customer service it's not a bad option. I went to the Best Buy in SF.

i heard a lot of horror stories from best buy and rather go to a reuptable non-national-chain shop. i also worry about the goons at bestbuy messing up my new car with their general carelessness.

check out Pacific Stereo, they have stores all over but I had the alarm for my MR2 installed at the one in Hayward on Mission Blvd. There's also a few other stereo & alarm places along that part of Mission, they all compete so you can bargain a little to get a good price. They did a clean install and everything worked great.

Well the reason I wanted to go to a National chain like Best Buy is that I know that they will be around in a couple of years in case I have a problem. With a small shop, you never know when they might go out of business or change ownership. As far as for tint, I remember reading on the NorCal forum about a place that does it in San Mateo. Try posting this question on the NorCal forum if you can't find the thread I'm talking about.

u can get an aftermarket "approved" alarm installed by toyota, (not the scion alarm)...so its reputable and warrantied...i just feel like you pay extra but the dealer knows their car the best. thats where mine was installed..along with autostart =)

what is considered "approved"? i'm looking to get the viper 791. i think its one of the best. is there a list somewhere of the approved alarms? also i don't want to pay $500 to install a stock scion alarm when i can get the 2way viper. pacific stereo said they have a special on the viper for $299 installed w/o remote start.

I know a really good place out here i Tracy if you want to do the drive.

Beware of some of the Best Buys, not all of their installers knows what's going on. I could hook you up w/ someone in Oakland that may do it on the side for you. Let me know.
