Black Scion Emblems
Hey,
Been searching around for anyone who has experience painted their emblems. I think a Black Scion with a mathcing black grill and trunk emblems would rock. Any advice?
Thanks,
Kent

okay so for a more helpful post... when you paint something, you wana make sure the paint will bond to the surface. sometimes this requires the use of primer. theres this new kind of spray paint called fusion that will bond to certain surfaces including plastic without the need of primer. you may wana look into this. i'm guessing it's the way to go.
a few tips with spray paint:
-make sure its completely clean before you start, anything uneven will show up in the end, anything greasy or something like that will work against the bonding
-make sure you get nice even coats
-give it ample time to dry between coats
-after those coats, make sure you don't put it back on the car for a few days, maybe even a week, for the paint to completely set

Didn't someone say it was pretty hard to get the tC badge off without destroying it? Even if I could get the thing painted right, I think it might be hard to stick back on cleanly. Personally if I debadge the thing I wouldn't put the same one back. Maybe someone will make black aftermarket badges or something... stranger things have happened.

I want it to look good! After driving the tC the other day, I was pretty happy with how it performed. The supercharger is too much. If anything I'll do the CAI for performance. But I'll throw down for the TRD springs, a nice tint job, and to get these emblems painted right.
Black pearl or Black Sand Beach? Deciscions...

i'm gonna be painting my scion grill emblem black sometime soon... i'll post pics of it... i was thinking of doing it to my rear emblems, but it was a pain to get off the scion ones, don't feel like tearing away at it again... damn fishing line will screw up your hands.

Idunno what the scion badges are made out of, but you can't powder coat plastic for two reasons:
1. the material you want to powder coat needs to conduct electricity.
2. powder coat needs to be heated to between 375 and 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

maybe we can get scion to make a black emblem like they have for the camry. that black is real nice. also, go to www.matrixowners.com because there are a few people there have painted their emblems successfully.
