Default Body Type Model for Scion tC...LB or CP?

Hey everyone! I just renewed my registration and noticed that under BODY TYPE MODEL mine says LB which means Lift Back. I'm from California, so I looked it up in the California DMV website to be sure and it does say LB for Lift Back. I thought tCs are considered a coupe which abbreviates to CP. Well it doesn't matter to me whether it says LB or CP on my registration form BUT I just want to know if anyone else says LB on their registration form like mine does. I tried searching for any related posts about this but most of it is about our MAKE which is TOYT...that's understandable since our cars are made by Toyota.

Isn't it a coupe? tC does mean Touring Coupe, so I'm assuming that our cars is considered a coupe...well I might be wrong. Anyone else? Here's the site I found about BTM

tc actually stands for toyota celica...

anyway, our car is still a hatchback/liftback which is why it's classified as such. have you ever opened your trunk?

if it was a coupe it would have a trunk seperate the cabin. for instance the g35 2 door is a sport coupe because the trunk is well a trunk. our car is a hatch back or lift back because the trunk is the hatch back. and or also you lift the back. i hope that sort of cleared it up for you.

btw the tC name doesnt really mean anything... i mean if tC does stand for touring coupe was does xA or xB stand for... i think people were just trying to piece words together... i mean the chrystler TC was because it was turbo coupe. i wish mine was turbo.

HeHeHe k then thanks for clearing that up for me...so let's go back to the topic...before this turns into a "What does tC stands for" thread hehe. So does your registration form says LB as well? I'm just curious if anyone else have the same as mine.

Toyota stated that they would have used xC but didn't want to step on the toes of Volvo's xC series, so they chose tC and i believe unoficially they have said it was for Touring Coupe, although when they first came out i saw a few sites like edmunds post that it was 'total comfort', among tons of other things.

I'm pretty sure toyota was quoted as saying it's a Touring Coupe. sorta like chrysler pacifica is a touring wagon or something.

well, wikipedia says tC stands for "touring coupe," although it could've just been someone on this board that wrote the article :D

At any rate, I believe it is touring coupe since that really is what the car is...

Be happy it's considered a liftback/hatchback. Insurance for them costs less than for coupes.
