Holy mother of God...Virgin Mary..... wow does it ever pay to be a bit older... I only pay like 460 every 6 months for my brand new 08 tC.... and thats for full coverage on everything... I dont even pay a deductable for my glass.

Some of these ideas have been mentioned above, but here's my .02 added in.

First off, the tC is one of the most expensive cars to insure for a couple reasons.
1.) its an import. domestics are cheaper
2.) its marketed to your age group and thus...
3.) mostly younger people are driving it, who have more accidents than those 25+

If you can get on your parents insurance as a 'partial driver' that will save them (or you, if they are making you pay for it) a boat load.

Also, if you live in the central hub city of a major metro area, your rates will be higher as well. So if you can register it in the suburbs of that city, you might get a little break.

The good grades discount is also a plus, but likely wont offset the age restriction you have (16-24 are lumped together into one rate). Your rates wont change dramatically till you hit age 24 and have a spotless driving record (no accidents, claims or tickets of any kind).

Sorry, buddy, but insurance is the bane of the automotive world.

Well here is another Example, When i was 16 insurance was $1200(6months) that was on my 1970 mach1 mustang no accidednts or nothing. That was under my parents insurance. Before i just changed the policy it was $800 every 6months. Now its $230 a year cuz its on different policy, still has full coverage and can put as many miles a year on it i please but i just cant leave it at malls, grocery stores basically it has to be driven out and about and then parked back in the driveway.

When i got my 2009 TC insurance is $144 a month so about $850(6months) and that is with a discount, i have renters insurance as well so i got a extra money off. I actually called today to try and get my defensive driving certificate added so i can save another 10% but that doesnt work unless you are 25. When i add the other car to my policy ill save another 10% and if i get house insurance. So see the more things you have the more you save. Also since i live in DFW, Texas there are 2 main cities, i live in dallas which is higher on insurance nad im moving to ft.worth which is close by and insurance will drop $15 instantly i call them and give them my new address. But when i turn 25 here in just over a year that is when i will be paying like half of what i am paying now. So my bill will be $75 a month for the scion and that was what i was quoted.

So since you will be 16 and a brand new driver, i would say you be lucky to squeeze out under $200 a month and thats on your parents insurance. Might want to start saving, driving aint cheap!!!

Oh another thing Female vs. Male driver. Males are always higher when it comes to insurance. I have asked all my friends that drive tc some are male, some or female. Female is always lower.

0ans6 comment above just helps prove it. Im 3 yrs older than her and im paying $500 dollars more every 6months and i have nothing on my record. Insrance sucks!!!

What will really do it is how much insurance you have. You pay for what you get. I found that out the hard way. Don't do the minimum because it sucks when you have to use it. They wanted to know if I was fine and who was at fault. Once they found out I was not at fault, They told me to go handle the settlement. If you want to meet some cold people, they are in the insurance industry. Not a bad thing, they have to be that way. But it isn't fun.

well it also has a lot to do with the company you choose as well...for the past year and a half i was paying $171/mo. through erie insurance (no tickets, no accidents, nothing) and found out that my friend who has two accidents, once being a total loss on his record, would only be paying 115/mo through nationwide. I called to get a quote from them this morning, and i'm going to switch tomorrow. $91.47/month sounds a hell of a lot better to me than 171.

Yeah, I had to deal with Nationwide. They are very good at their job. So good that I won't even look their way for insurance. My aunt has them and she has had 2 claims with them. She said they always wrote the check very quickly.
