Default Broken '05 tC Key $200+?!?!?

my stupid 05' key broke and now i have the metal key piece and the transponder left. anybody know how much a replacement key is? i did a couple searches. heard people paying 200+ for this?

either this or i just try and superglue the damn thing back together. I was lookin on ebay and saw the newer keys (the black ones) are on ebay for 50. i was thinking if i can just buy that get it cut and throw my transponder on there? any suggestions?

you will not only need to move the keyless remote over, but the immobilizer chip over as well.

where is the immobilizer chip at? it was just the casing that broke off and i lost the back piece. i do have second set of keys and my valet key as well. i was thinking of just super gluing my second set of keys together where it was cracked. damn 200!

look inside your key, and you'll see a long rectangular thing with glue and the chip inside. bottom right if you're looking at it from the back.

Get a shell, gut it and move it over. You might as well do what I did, Get a Viper. Install it... Use the broken key for the immobilizer... I broke mine on purpose... Then use the valet key and the Viper transponder. Very nice.

About 2 years ago I went to a Key maker shop and the guy there told me that he has a replacement for $79... (Mine is 2006 tC). That was here in Puerto Rico. Good luck.

yea. every dealership ended up having different prices that range (with programming) from 150-220. it was weird. seemed like every dealership was making up prices. anyways just ended up super gluing my old key that also cracked. my other key i just have the key and the damn transponder. no shell. anybody know where i can get a shell from? i've looked online no luck.

chrischoi. what viper did you get? like what model number? maybe i should just do something like that. better than paying 150+ for a stupid key. thx

my dealership told me 300 when i bought my car! That sucks tho... FWIW I would almost rather pay the money and save the headache of swapping the guts to an empty shell lol im lazy like that
