Hi, i might be buying a scion tc next week. Its a 2005 with 77k on it, automatic. Everything looked great, test drive was fine, i couldnt find anything wrong. Is there anything i should check for besides the obvious such as leaking fluids and such? I ran a carfax on it and i dont understand what happened when the dealers took it in but it seems like the first owner sold it in 2007 and it wasnt put up for sale until a few week ago??

if you have a mechanic or your parent's mechanic go there and have him take a look at the car. check out the overall outside/inside appearance of the car. look for excess rust, check the brakes+rotors, springs/struts, and tires.
check the fluids. when you start it up make sure all the lights that are supposed to light up do. when you start it make sure the lights that are supposed to go away do. see if it starts easily(does it turn over a couple times before starting).
when road testing, see if the car pulls while accelerating and braking. listen for any abnormal noises. does the transmission shift smoothly.
once you get it into a shop and on the lift check out the front end of the car (tie-rods, ball joints, etc.) look around under and see if you notice anything out of the ordinary. (a patched up bumper, or paint dust left from body shops on the inside of the bumpers) you basically want to have it checked like you were about to do an state inspection.

what do you guys think about the price and the mileage. Does the car look good? Im just hesitant buying it from one of these private dealers, but i couldnt see anything wrong.

the outside looks like it was taken care of really well. the inside is alittle messy but that is understandable because the fabric on our seats isnt that beast

i don't think they didn't do it... because of the track record before 2007...

either they started taking to local shops/ do it their selves..
or they lost there liscense...
there was a gap on my celica because i lost my card for a 1 yr. and a half

I told him all i had was 8k to spend and if i could have that price out the door. He basically said no, 8500 out the door, so then i said how about 8,300 and he said he would take no lower than 8400. So i said i will have to call you back if i can come up with the extra money. I have a friend that could loan me the extra money but i dont know if i should wait or what.
