This is why people should go to shows, lift their hoods, and go home later on. No need to race because of the harm that it can cause.

Yet another sad story about the dangers of street racing

John Graziano, the passenger critically injured in the car crash involving Hulk Hogan’s son Nick, is not going to be making a recovery.

According to court documents, the young Marine will need lifelong care at a nursing home and at best will only be able to open and close his eyes periodically.

Just heartbreaking!

Many reports claim that Nick was speeding before the crash, which would hold him criminally responsible. Police are still investigating the incident.

Graziano is still in critical condition at Bayfront Medical Center, more than a month after the crash.

A Sept. 19 report filed by registered nurse Joanne Jones, who was hired by the court to examine John Graziano to determine if he is incapacitated, said he was on total life support. The report said that Graziano was comatose and that he may have had a seizure.

Jones’ report said Graziano responds to a pinch and has a gag reflex but does not otherwise respond to touch or sound. His pupils are fixed, meaning they don’t respond to light.

Coleen Booker, a registered nurse with 14 years of emergency room experience at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville, said in an interview that it is not encouraging that he is on life support and his pupils are fixed.

“But the signs that he has a gag reflex and does respond to pain means he’s not brain dead,” said Booker, who is not involved with Graziano’s treatment.

In her report, Jones detailed the injuries Graziano sustained during the wreck. He broke his skull at the base, had part of his skull cut out, experienced brain swelling and had cuts to the scalp. Bone was pushed in and broken in many pieces. He had abnormal collections of blood under the front side of the skull.

In an addendum, Jones included information given to her by Graziano’s doctor, H. Bushnell Clarke. He told her that at best, Graziano will “open his eyes on and off.”

“At this present time, he states his prognosis remains guarded,” Jones wrote in her Sept. 26 addendum. “He states that this young man most likely will spend the remainder of his life in a nursing home.”

She said Graziano should be re evaluated in six months to see if his condition improves.

According to court documents, Graziano was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Please, kids (and adults) don’t drink and drive. Don’t race your cars.

And wear your damn seat belts!!!!

Police reports now say that it was NOT street racing, but road rage.

Doesn't mean that street racing is OK... But I wanted to make sure that the facts were set straight.

You're a little bit mixed up there. That's a different incident which has been the main story on the local news today. The previous story involved the death of a mother and her two kids as a result of street racing in El Monte. Last night, in Reseda, a mother and two kids were seriously injured in what was initially suspected to be street racing, but has now been deemed an incident of road-rage.

Mother, 2 Kids Critically Hurt in "Road Rage" Accident
October 10, 2007, 1:27 PM PDT

A critically injured mother and her two young children were innocent victims of a "road rage" crash involving two motorists who have been booked for attempted murder, authorities said today.

The motorists taken into custody after yesterday afternoon's crash were identified as Brian Barnes, 44, of Northridge, and Armando Gamboa Ayon, 19, of Pacoima, said Officer Norma Eisenman, a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman.

Authorities have not released the names of the victims -- a 4-year-old boy, his 2-month-old sister and their 31-year-old mother. The three, all natives of India, remain hospitalized in critical condition, the boy is on life support.

The crash occurred at 3:12 p.m. yesterday at 17119 W. Sherman Way, between Balboa Boulevard and Louise Avenue, when the drivers of a black Nissan and a red Camaro got into a dispute, said Kevin Maiberger of the LAPD Media Relations office.

The woman and her children were caught between two parked cars that came together when the driver of the Nissan lost control and plowed into the rear of one of them, Lee said.

"This incident did not have to happen," LAPD Capt. Ron Marbrey said at a late-morning news conference. "The mother ... is probably going to lose a leg, and the other leg is severely crushed."

The mother and two children from Monday's street racing accident are all dead. The mother and two children from last night's road-rage incident are all in serious condition, but I just saw on the news right now that the 5-year old is expected to die.

Doctors Say Child May Not Survive After 'Road Rage' Crash
Police: Reseda Crash Was Road Rage, Not Street Racing

LOS ANGELES -- Doctors said Wednesday that a 4-year-old hospitalized in critical condition may not survive after a "road rage" incident on Tuesday, according to police.

"The 4-year-old child is in extremely grave condition. We don't even know if the child is going to make it. Doctors are very skeptical on that. They're doing everything they can, but it does not look good for the 4-year-old," Capt. Ronald Marbrey of the LAPD.

The child's 2½-month-old sibling and 31-year-old mother, all natives of India, were also hospitalized Tuesday, KNBC's Robert Kovacik reported.

The crash, which was originally blamed on street racing, occurred at 3:12 p.m. at 17119 W. Sherman Way, between Balboa Boulevard and Louise Avenue, at 3:12 p.m. Tuesday, said Ron Myers of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

"Witnesses tell us that two individuals were driving at a high rate of speed westbound, here, on Sherman Way. It appeared to witnesses that they were jockeying for position," Marbrey said.

Marbrey said witnesses said the vehicles were traveling between 50 mph and 90 mph.

"They were cutting each other off," Marbrey said. "At one point further down the roadway, the red Camaro slammed on his brakes and the black Nissan barely missed colliding with him."

"Further down the road, here at Amestoy (Avenue), the red Camaro applied the brakes hard, the black Nissan attempted to avoid a collision and swerved to the right, and collided with a silver Daewoo," Marbrey said.

Marbrey said that the Daewoo slammed into the family, pinning them against a black Honda Civic.

Marbrey said the mother will probably lose one leg. Marbrey said her other leg was also severely crushed.

The infant suffered severe scrapes and injuries, according to Marbrey.

"That child, according to witnesses, was launched into the air and slammed against a tree. This is the tragedy of this incident, and this will impact this family. The father is totally distraught. He's overwhelmed by this incident. It'll impact this family for years and years to come," Marbrey said.

Police said the driver of the Nissan, 19-year-old Armando Ayon, of Pacoima, and the driver of the Camaro, 44-year-old Brian Barnes, of Northridge, have been arrested and charged with attempted murder.

If the 4-year-old dies, the pair would be charged with murder, Kovacik reported.

"This incident did not have to happen. That's the tragedy of it," Marbrey said.

The crash occurred one day after a street race that resulted in a fiery crash that killed a woman and her two children in El Monte.

those "racers" were retarded...racing down a RESIDENTIAL street.

Real racers don't want to hurt anyone... or go to jail. They organize and go to secluded industrial areas away from everyone else (since LACR closed etc)

If me and my friends go out...we go out extremely late.... have people posted up at both ends and in between to stop cars from coming (if any)... have walkie talkies to let people know to stop...etc.

Its all of these ego driven idiots that are behind the wheel and race in residential neighborhoods or at a ____ing stop light. NOT TO MENTION IN BROAD DAYLIGHT IN THE AFTERNOON A HONDA ACCORD AND A MUSTANG (thats not a real race probably 2 idiots trying to ____ around and be cool)

My prayers are with the family in these tragic times.

Pretty sad. There was also a fatal hit-and-run in Sylmar last night. A 30 y/o man was mowed down and killed on a pedestrian crossing.
