California street race - Mother and her 2 kids now dead

Yeah I didn't really understand the whole story, I just went looking for the pics and then I got turned off and didn't want to know about it anymore. I think she took her dad's Porsche 911 without permission or something, then went on a joyride?

The Orange County Register
Nicole Catsouras, 18, of Ladera Ranch was killed Tuesday afternoon when her black Porsche 911 Carrera clipped a Honda she was trying to pass on the right at more than 100 mph on the Eastern (241) Toll Road, the California Highway Patrol said. Catsouras was driving southbound near Alton Parkway when she suddenly switched lanes and lost control of the Porsche, CHP officials said, and then cut across the center median, careened across several lanes of traffic and crashed into a tollbooth. The 20-year-old driver of the Honda was taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

When I was searching for those pics, I happened to run across another thread on the same forum entitled "the most graphic thread in the world, ever". It has uncensored police photographs from all kind of accidents. It gave me a whole new appreciation for the professionals who have to respond to an accident scene and literally pick up body parts. I'll post the link if anyone wants to see.

It seems like the victims family has clamped down where they can (in the internet), and I cant find the pictures being described. I dont normally look for graphic crash pictures, but this has become sort of an internet phenomenon. Google searches are leading me in circles, as apparently the victims name is being used as a tag for about anything.

The pics are still there. Do a Google image search for Nikki Catsouras with "SafeSearch" turned off. You will get some of the pictures that way, and that will lead you to some forum threads where the rest of the pics can be found.

I'm trying so hard not to let my curosity get the best of me. I saw the interview with the family and t's really messed up. People were sending them the pictures and saying all kinds of horrible stuff. I think the girl made a really dumb decision, but geez, who sends photos of someone's decapitated daughter in an email to the family?

Well I haven't heard that part of the story. From what I have seen, the pictures are mostly being used as an example of what not to do, not as a joke. She died a stupid death, but if images of her death can deter other young people from behaving in the same way, then at least she didn't die completely in vain. You can talk to teenagers all you want, but they never listen. I should know, I used to be one. But pictures like these have a much bigger impact than a lecture ever could.

Honestly, that stuff does nothing. Pretty much everyone saw some version of Red Asphalt during Driver's Ed, yet everyone speeds.
We know the risks of drunk driving, smoking, un-protected sex, etc. but at the end of the day, people still risk themselves.
Why? Because we always feel like it could never happen to us. Youth = invulnerability

it would probably be even more effective if you made the kids accompany the EMT's, the coroner, or the cleanup guys to the actual accidents. (although that's not really practical I guess)

By the way I found the pics (and they are pretty bad), so thanks.
