can a scion be a really fast car or just be slow push over?
Ive been wondering my tc is pretty slow i mean i wanna upgrade it to give it some more punch but would it be worth it or will it in the end just be another slow car?

it depends on whether you can justify making it fast. For me, no I can't, but its the opposite for alot of other people, and thats cool.
btw, what are you comparing to the tc to that you have driven? if this is your first car, theres a nice big chance that its going to get damaged somewhere.

well its all relative to what fast means to you....i mean are you talking like ferrari, lotus, etc.....cause you can't really compare cars like that....just look at cars around our price range, and the tC is not bad for an economy car....i'm boosted and drive my car through mountain roads and on tracks....there's definetly worse than the tC....

a 16 yr old who wants a shiny new fast car, thats a new one. look, i'm just going to say it, you don't need a fast car. infact, i think you, as well as all other new drivers need something about as fast as a geo metro or something. your young kid, don't get a tc, and try to do your fast and furious imitation right away, your going to crash, trust me, it will come, and most likely be your fault.
fast is a relative term. the tc is way faster than my old 95 explorer, but amoung the rest of the cars on the road, it is just above average in its class. you say the civic si has power that the tc doesn't, i say you don't know how to drive because a tc isn't exactly coming up short against an si, si's are just lighter, and have that vtec that gives you that violent pull forward once it kicks in.
now, how fast are you looking for? tc does a 1/4 mile in about 15 second on a stock 5 spd. a corvette does it in about 12 seconds, a turbo tc can do a 1/4 mile in about high 12 to low 13 seconds. also, the tc tops out at 127 mph.
now, you are a new driver, and you think you'll never get a ticket, you'll never get in a collision etc. reality will check you on that very soon. even if you are cautious, your simply inexperienced and won't have the foresight to know what can happen at every turn on the road.
so get a tc or whatever you test drive that you like, can afford and fits your life. tc's are great cars and easy to upgrade and modify, but don't just turbocharge it right away. take your time and learn how to handle the car and respect the limits of the vehicle. the car will go fast enough to get you in trouble in stock form.
also. if your not aware, modifiing your car costs some serious $$$. you can't just buy a turbo kit, double your horsepower and fly around all. there is more to it. do some research into what you getting into before you just jump in with both feet.
nextly, don't start with a turbo. start with the footwork. wheels tires. suspension and brakes. power without control is chaos, and with a new driver behind the wheel, it will be an ugly site.
i don't mean to discourage you, but don't take buying and modifying a car lightly.

draxcaliber is absolutely right. Just be happy with what you have right now. I mean how fast do you want it to be?? You live in a city right? There's traffic laws right?
Trust me, tickets and accidents will pretty much ruin alot of things down the line in your life, including financial.

ya ur right im inexperienced driver true i feel you on that one and a 12 second scion would be perfect i wanan take the car on the track and mess around with it. drax thanks for clearing that up. I dont really wanna go fast and the furious street racing is risky and its not really a risk i wanna take people around here seem to be dieing fast because of it and i dont wanna be on the list of dead drivers.

I think to start with, get a decent i/h/e setup. You'd be suprised how much more powerful the car feels when it can breath better.
Also, don't forget the faster you go the worse your fuel economy gets. I don't know whose payin your gas bill but just something to think about.

I just got my self an 1985 supra. Straight six, 2.8 liter. You can put a 3.0 7mgte turbo engine in there and weigh a few hundred lbs lighter than an mk3 supra. It cost me $1700 for the car. And it is a TOYOTA! But of course I had to replace gaskets, master cylinder, radio isnt working, and it is not a chick magnet.
