Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing of North America and CAFLOR industries want to have a exhaust emission evaluation on tC.
I got the letter saying that I've been ramdomly selected.

$100 check at the completion and replacement car wil be given for duration of the evaluation.

It may sound so sweet, but is Toyota trying to hide a recall? They might just switch bad parts during that "evaluation"

What are your thoughts?

They arent going to switch bad parts. for them to hide a recall, thousands of people would have recieved the same letter. And with the interent, more people would have posted this same thing.

i say go for it and enjoy the $100.

sounds like a scam to me. why would toyota need YOUR car when 1. they have access to their own vehicles and 2. probably have cars they have designated solely as test cars.
I would call Toyota and verify the letter before I handed over my car, and I'm not sure I would hand it over for $100. But that's just me.

I remember the last post about this. The other guy said they couldn't use a new car because they want a car which has been driven daily over an extended period of time.

The whole thing sounds like a scam, but hey, maybe it's for real. If I received a similar letter, my first move would be to call the dealership which sold me the car and talk to the manager there. If this is a legitimate thing which Toyota does then all dealership managers should be well aware of it. However, don't call the number which they provided to you on the letter, because that could just be some random guy's cell phone or anything. Do your own research before you hand over your car and your keys to a stranger.

Scion does some very odd advertising and testing practices. This is perfectly normal for scion.

heck they flew 300 people to Florida round trip with accomadations just to entertain them and get their opinions.
They have scion round table events all the time. totally payed for.

Something like this they dont want to use a dealer car. why would you test a car that isnt driven daily by the consumer? They want randomness. And using a random users car, is Random and will give the results they need.

conspiracy theory isnt everywhere. Go check it out. if they install listening devices in your car replace parts, then you can say i was wrong.

yeah, I've heard of this once or twice, but I think last time the check was for $200....I could be mistaken though.

if you want to be sure, call Scion Corporate and ask about it and make sure its legit...?

sounds kind of sketch but I would definately call customer relations at scion usa and see what they have to say. but it doesn't sound too far fetched for scion, they have some pretty young visionaries with a lot of leeway to make decisions and budgets to carry them out, no doubt it's possible they'll give you the cash and borrow your car. sweet!
