Default cigarette lighter problem

So I was about to take off last night and my iPod wasn't charged. I have on of those iPod to radio deals that plugs into your cigarette lighter just so I could charge it, only problem is it didn't work, figuring it was the unit and not the car, it didn't really phase me. Then later I try to light a cigarette (don't smoke in the car, but didn't have a lighter so... last resort), only to find that the thing won't stay down. I thought I could hold it in place and it would heat up, but no luck. When I got back to my place I got my other iPod car charger and my phone charger, and now I don't get any power to anything.

Anyone know what might've happened? I don't think it's the fuse because wouldn't the one inside the center console be on the same fuse? That one works, but it's kind of a hassle having so many cords coming out of the thing.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

same thing happened to my lighter a few months ago. How do you fix it? Will the dealership blame me if I take it there to be fixed?
