I use to keep coins in there - I had it pretty full and was satisfied until I was broke and tied to actually get the change out.. That was a b!tch now I just keep change in the cup holder rests. Dosen't look great but it's affective enough.

I burn the people who post stupid things like this and then put their ashes in that cell phone/coin holder. Stop this lame argument you mad fools.

It is really an ashtray with a flip down top so that the ashes don't blow out when you have the roof open. Really. Says so in the manual for the car.

 

I also use it as a coin holder. Instead of just throwing them in though I put them in a film container. Fits perfect.

 

Simple solution. Upgrade your cell phone and get rid of your crappy phone:

it says no such thing. it specifically says CAUTION: Don not use the auxiliry box as an ashtray... I dont smoke, but I think its kind of funny that they include a cigarette lighter, but you have to purchase the ashtray seperately.

 

I put my cell phone in there with my belt clip attached to it still and it sits in there at an angle so I can see the screen.. so the caller ID is angled towards me. Its really cool. I love that little axiliry storage bin. Now all I need is a cordless headset and Ill be all set.

I started smoking at age 33 just so I could dump ashes in the little box. I lined it with some foil so as not to burn the plastic. Sometimes I burn incense in it too. Keeps the car ever so fresh.

Holy old thread revival. Well, it's been two and a half years - has anyone figured out what the holder is for?

I use the little flip-lid holder thing for storing my gate-opener inside. It's the perfect size and I can press the button without having to lift up the remote. It just sits snugly with the button facing up.

Btw, does anyone use the little rubber cup holder thing which came with the tC? Mine was in a plastic bag on the floor when I picked up the car from the dealer. It fits into the plastic cupholder and the rubber part has countours to fit MP3 players and phones. My Razr sits upright perfectly in the rubber cupholder insert.
