I have a problem with the tC hatch not latching when the temperature drops below freezing. I read a couple of fixes. A temporary, quick fix is to warm up the latch with a lighter, but I don't really want to use a lighter on my car. Another person said it needed to be lubed. Yet another person is having his latch mechanism replaced under warranty. I'm going to try to get my dealer to replace the latch mechanism.

If anybody is getting rattling from the rear hatch have the dealer check the hatch struts. My tC was rattling really bad and I had the hatch struts replaced and now I barely get any noise. Someone mentioned that the sunroof was making noises, if you live in a cold climate where you get ice forming on the roof that'll cause it. Other than all the noises the car runs great. Has anyone noticed their car ever sounding like it is going to stall out?? Just lately i've noticed the car sputters a lil.

I've noticed that my car only gets noisy when it's below freezing. It doesn't seem to handle the cold well. Still, I love this car. Of all the cars I've owned, this one is my favorite. As for the sputtering, I have noticed this. It's usually when I have less than a quarter tank of gas or I use a lower grade of gas. I don't know if there is a connection. Typically, if I use the premium grade (ouch $$), I don't have the sputtering problem.

Furniture pads like the ones you put on the leg bottoms to keep them from scratching floors - stuck them to the stoppers on the top hatch, right, left side - no more rattle - it was a $2 fix. Dealers replaced mine and it was quiet for 2 days - since putting the sticky pads on the hatch stoppers - no more rattle - try it = $2 isn't much too lose.

I recently noticed that a panel on the right side of my rear hatch was just barely attatched, upon pushing it back on the rattling stopped for like 20 minutes. WTF is going on, all my car does is rattle, my 2001 acura integra gsr with 90000 miles never rattled!!

We gave you input - post like a big boy instead of using your Toys 'R' Us method.

Plus, your comeback won't help your case much...

2¢ - do with it as you will. Read the forums - plenty of threads on all these problems. Some with solutions.

Well my car just spent two days at the dealership having all of its problems fixed. There is a TSB on the rear hatch and sunroof. My glove box on the other hand was 'deformed.' My service writer made a joke saying that she thinks that they sold my a VW!

That makes it sound bad and all... but 4th time for what? What was it in for the other times?

All four times its the sunroof. It actually has two problems:

1. When trying to close it, it gets to where the front flap is supposed to fold down, and the pinch protection activates and the sunroof opens fully instead of closing. It consisently did that every time on the first and third times I brought it into the dealer, on the second and fourth times in the dealer it was intermittent.

2. The sunroof does not close 100% of the way when in the "fully closed" position, and whistles loudly when driving at 70 mph or above. It did this on the 2nd and 4th times I brought it in. I do not know if it leaks, as I have not had the car in the rain since it got very bad. The whistling has gradually gotten worse over time.

I had the laminate done on the 2nd time in the dealer, so since my problems started before that the laminate is not to blame, although the install may have somehow worsened the problems.

I'm wondering if I've given my particular dealer's service department too many second chances already and if I should try somewhere else. I'm pretty fed up with it and am about ready to trade the darn thing in. Its still in the dealership now, and has been for four days now. At least the dealership gave me a Celica GT-S as a loaner. Too bad its automatic but I guess that's the only way loaner cars come.

No, I'm not a hater. I also have an xB and its been pretty much perfect.

update 3/13: Car is still in the shop, but they have decided I need a whole new sunroof. That seems a bit drastic, but I'm glad its going to be fixed once and for all.

Default Part numbers

I was wondering if someone could direct me to a site that lists part numbers. I need a new drivers side rear view mirror and can't seem to find the part number anywhere.

Thanks

I saw this on the edmunds.com forum "the 05 Scion tC has a service bulletin for a new steering rack and new power steering pump. If you're also hearing clicking when steering, then yes definitely it has a problem. " also I found this ST005-01 REPAIR MANUAL SUPPLEMENT: VEHICLE PULLING TO ONE SIDE (REVISED)
4/4/2006 - 2002 – 2007 model year Toyota vehicles. 2004 – 2007 model year Scion vehicles. Anyone know anymore about theses?

Haven't heard anything about that yet. Though mine is an 05... too bad they don't give VINs for it.
