Thats a good amount of milage. Sale it out right. Look at kbb.com for some help. I just did a fast walk through & found that a 1997 Golf 2dr with 140,000 miles & in good shape can go for $4,350 & thats with only the stock options selected, your car might have more options.

They're not stiffin you at all...people are dumb :p...they have to sell your car at wholesale, they can't put it on the lot, especially with that kinda miles. So they give ya the price its worth to some random ___ auction folk.
Not to mention, they only offered me 400 and 600 (two different dealerships) and I am about to sell my car for 1,800, coulda gotten 2,200 for it as well.

The only time dealer trade in is good is if you want an easy way to get rid of your old car quickly.
The blue book value on my supra was something like 3 grand the dealer would have given me probably 900 bucks, but I sold it for 8 grand.
So if you don't care how much you get for your car and just need to get rid of it, go to the dealer, otherwise put it on autotrader.
