Disconnect battery - electrical weirdness
So, it turns out when I got my tank filled yesterday, the attendant didn't put the gas cap back on all the way, and it triggered my check engine light.. but th elight didn't go out when I replaced the gas cap, so I disconnected the battery, and re-connected it a few minutes later.
CEL is gone, and hasn't come back, but now I have some other stuff going on.
1. My moon roof controls don't work.
2. I can't roll down my passenger side window with the driver side button (yes, I checked the window lock button) but the passenger side button can roll down the window no problem.
3. The one touch Auto-up/down window feature doesn't work on the passenger side at all.
There may be other things that I haven't noticed yet.
I called my dealership, and they said that clearing the code by disconnecting the battery is a bad idea, and that stuff will need to be re-programmed so that everything works again.
WTF is up with that? So if I disconnect my battery while installing stereo equipment, I'm going to have to take it back to the dealership to have crap re-programmed? Considering my dealership is 3+ hours away, this is something that doesn't really sound appealing to me.
Is there another explanation that I could be missing?
Has anyone else experienced this?

I have never heard of that. I know that the OBD-II computers do some weird stuff after you disconnect the battery for awhile, but that seems really weird. I wonder how you would reprogram that stuff? That sound like a load of BS but I don't know.

You have to reset the windows and roof.
For the doors, from the switch on each door, roll the window down half way then roll it all the way up and keep the button held for a few seconds.
For the roof, I believe I just held the button forward for a few seconds and that did the trick.

Sorry, flashback to old Nintendo days
Just out of curiosity, where did you find that out? I'm going to try it on my lunch break.

I really apprecate the info, it worked like a charm. You guys saved me a wasted vacation day from work and a 7 hour round trip to the dealership.
I would say that this should be in the tech forum. I can't believe it's not in the owners manual... (and if it is, I didn't find it)
