does anyone else have trouble backup up in a straight line?
ok, i can backup any car i've driven before (mazda 626, corolla, sante fe, acclaim - all autos) perfectly in a straight line
but in my scion, i can't back out of my driveway straight for crap! it's a 5 speed, but that shouldn't make any difference.
i think it might be because it's a 2 door hatch and it has limited visibilty when backing up or that the wheel is more responsive than others i've driven
it sucks in the winter, because i've almost gotten myself stuck a couple of times in the driveway, i felt like an idiot.
just wondering if anyone else has a similar experience

Backing up in a straight line is not a car issue, it's a driver issue. Not saying you're a bad driver... but even with blind spots and some limited visibility... you're still going in reverse and you still have a steering wheel.

I have a 100-year old house, and the driveway is barely wider than my car - it was designed for a horse and carriage (no lie)
It's tough getting down it in any car - my daughter scratched her Mustang twice, and my wife hosed a rental car too, but I see nothing other than a slight blind spot in the rear quarter that should make it too difficult.
Takes practice - and when your car's new, you have "new car paranoia" which doesn't help.

My prob is just the opposite in my xA. I have, what is known medically as "Old Fart's Eyesight." Since I can't see the nose or bumber, I can't judge distance. i pull into a parking space thinking I'm a foot clear of the line and find out I'm 4 feet away!!! Good thing the car is short!! I may have to mount an antenna on the front bumber. It would look like a giant RC ! Or maybe tie a couple of old tires on the bumper and look like a tug boat!
