Default Dropped a bolt

So... I was working on my tC today. I had a bolt (about 3/8" and about 0.25" long) with a rubber tubing on it (Stuck it into a rubber tube - to be used as a plug) temporarily sitting on the battery. I go to pick up a towel to wipe my hands and knocked the bolt off. I have looked everywhere for this thing.

I have checked the ground, the engine bay, everywhere. Still can't find it.

I don't really need this since I have a spare bolt... but I'd really like to find it. I even drove the car around on a bumpy road to see if I could hear any rattling and nothing. I'm assuming this is due to the rubber tubing that is wrapped around the threaded part of the bolt. Hoping that the thing just fell out as I was driving it. I checked before and after I drove it.

From some friends' suggestion, I tried putting the car in reverse, pick up speed, and slam the brakes. I did this after driving back from Subway. I didn't see anything fall out in the empty parking lot that I tried this in.

Any ideas on locating this thing?

idk lol....LOOK

use one of those long magnets and poke around the bay a bit. ive done this a million times with bolts, screws, o rings, nuts, etc.

if you dont find it, i wouldnt really worry about it, unless you dropped it by the serp belt, or next to a 4inch turbo inlet

Yeah. I spent about 3 hours looking yesterday. Didn't see it.

I ordered one of those telescoping magnetic grabbers so I'll check with that.

A friend said it might have fallen on the k frame. If I were to jack the car up, would I be able to see onto the k frame? Or would I need to actually remove the k frame to check?

Oh I don't know.... This bolt was just sooo gooood...

Seriously?

I want to make sure that this thing doesn't sit around in my engine bay.

And...I don't want this thing to fall out while I'm driving and hit someone behind me or even my own car.

Hence why I want to make sure it's not just sitting there now?

Like DeAnzaJig if it didn't fall next to any belts or anything else dangerous i wouldn't worry about it. You said you already drove around and it's still there. If you can't find the bolt then how do you know it's still there ?

Seriously dude it's no big deal. I've done this a billion times; you'll be just fine, unless you can't live without it.

Go to www.lovecalculator.com and input your name and the bolts name to see if you guys are meant for each other... To me it sounds like love at first sight... Sometimes a love or a bond as great as a man and his bolt is all one needs....

Like I said before. I don't want this thing falling out and getting kicked up and breaking the windshield of whoever is behind me.

Some of you guys are so caught up with the fact that I need to find the bolt. It's more of I don't want to end up paying for someone else's windshield.

@ KillaSpiceTSW

Yeah I kinda need the bolt to get a nut on. C wut I did thar? lol

Seriously though I would check the plastic thing underneath and check inside the plastic lining of the wheel well, maybe it fell in there!

I dropped a bolt in my engine bay before, couldn't find it so I just forgot about it.
This was over a year ago nothing bad has happened, seems like your freaking out more than you should. Regardless if your bolt hits the windshield of the car behind you, it's not going to shatter the glass and I doubt you will ever even know you did it, much less pull over and have to pay for it..

Yeah I suppose that's true. I know my girlfriend had her windshield cracked by something that got kicked up by the car in front of her. The car in front, of course, never noticed. However, it sucks to have to get it repaired and such.

I think it should have fallen out by now especially with the way the Cleveland roads here in Ohio are. ha ha

Even if I didn't know, it still sucks for the car that's behind me. :/

but yeah... I guess it's w/e at this point. lol
