Esurance...???

Esurance...???
I seen some people recommend Esurance on the "Holy mother of God" post and had some questions for those who have had it.
My insurance now is astronomical (thanks to PennDOT being jackarses, long story). I lost my license a while ago because of PennDOT's goof up that they didn't want to own up to, didn't have insurance coverage for some time because of this (obviously because my license was suspended... couldn't have insurance), and have been paying $193.06 a month plus $8 to have a bill sent to me through Nationwide. There's been no violations or accidents or anything for 5 or 6 years... but I'm still paying out the wazoo.
Esurance has given me the lowest quote thus far, but I have some questions...
For those of you who have had it, have you ever had to make a claim, and if so, how did that go?
Were they fast about it?
Did your rates go up much?
Was it your fault?
Were they easy to deal with??
Are they reliable?
Cheaper is not always better, and they haven't been around very long... so I'm debating on whether or not to switch to them at renewal next month... or stay where I am for now.
Progressive's quote was cheaper than Nationwide, but more expensive than Esurance... And Allstate has some VERY good plans, but I'm not eligable for the plan I want until like... May of next year.
So I'm trying to weigh my options. I used to do auto body collision repair/paint (yes I'm a chick), and the best insurance company we had to deal with was State Farm, but I'm not eligable for them for a bit either.
So, opinions? Experiences? The new job I had to take is taking a $500 a month pay cut for now, but I had to keep money commin in to pay the bills... so I'm trying to weigh my options until I can either move up in the company, or find an better paying job. I can make it now, but I don't really have much extra at all after bills.
Opinions on other insurance companies are welcome too... just want to see what's all out there and experiences others have had. Thanks!!!!

have you tried donegal (Market St and Mt Zion Rd, Kochman Ins)? Donegal saved me about 25% over state farm several years back. However, I'm aware that my age has alot to do with that and I also have a clean record for many years.
What's the deal with Penndot? With our roads around here, I'm suprised there aren't a million lawsuits against them!! I always swore that if I bend up a wheel orsuspension due to the conditions around here I would sue them, but I'm sure that would be a losing proposition. They are probably immune to such lawsuits.
A personal note: My xb might be migrating to CA. My nephew would like to have it and I would like to take a trip once. Haven't driven cross country in 20 years and would love it.

i have esurance. they have the best rates. I did get into an accident a couple years back. it was completely my fault cuz i was driving like an idiot. my car was totaled and the other person's van was pretty beat up. I dont know what the monetary damage to her vehicle was, i never asked. definitely more than a couple G's. My insurance was liability only so my car was a loss. I didnt have any problems with esurance...they called me up, asked me what happened, and said okay we will take care of it. Thats it. Then of course, they raised my rates, but what would you expect. Even with the accident on my record, Esurance gives me the best rates over any other insurance company that i know of. I would say go with Esurance if they are quoting you the best rate.

FallenAngel,
I finally get to sound cliche... I had esurance before it was popular. Seriously, I had it for over 5 years. I never once had to make a claim fortunately, but they always treated me with respect, curteousness and were very quick to answer the phone at ALL hours (and believe me, I'm a night owl, almost all my calls were at 3am).
They were always fair to me I felt... when I moved to a new area of town, I didn't even think of telling them (had a lot going on, insurance wasn't on my mind as long as the bill was paid). Eventually about 3 months later I was talking to them to see about rates for different cars I was looking at buying and they noted my new address. They told me it was a cheaper area of town to live in insurance wise and accordingly lowered my rate on the spot (not much, but it was a nice gesture I thought).
A month ago when I got my tC I called them up and they were very polite, answered quickly, etc. They quoted me a rate and the guy laughed saying, "Oh my god, you've got the oldest account I've ever seen. I started here 2 years ago and remember when we celebrated our 100,000th policy and you've been here for over 5 years." I chuckled and sorta hoped that was code for, "We'll give you a good rate." Yeah, no such luck, but anyway. It wasn't a bad rate I thought and told them thanks.
Then I came to SL forums shortly after actually buying my baby and saw a thread where people were mentioning their insurance rates. I thought damn, some of these guys have GOT to have worse stats than I do so I should be able to get something a little lower I bet. Anyway, I looked around and it turned out Geico did indeed offer me a drastically ($300 less per 6 months) lower rate. I was amazed at such a huge discrepency and the guy at Geico said something that I believe to be true, "We do compete with other companies, however some places have huge differences just because we're better in some markets than others."
So, I cancelled my esurance policy after that phone call and went with Geico. My point here being, shop around, find the best rate and if it is Esurance, don't be afraid to go with them as they're backed by a large investment firm (White Mountain Group I believe?) and if they had a lower rate for me again, I'd have no problem going right back. As it stands, Geico just has a better rate for me now so I'm going with them.
Hope this helps you out a little, FA.

I love how people claim that one certain insurance company has the "best" rates. That will never be the case, it varies from company to company and from person to person. I pay $111 from allstate and everytime someone says, "this insurance company is the cheapest", it always ends up being more.
I just got a quote from esurance, $156/month.
The above post is right, you have to shop around and you will get many different quotes.

Starbuck> I'll have to check them out... the PennDOT thing is a LONG story, if you're interested drop by a meet sometime and Ill explain lol
Anyone else... thanks for the input so far, and keep it commin guys and gals!!!
I'm not looking so much for who has the better rates, just experiences with different companies, and especially Esurance, because they've given me the lowest rates so far.
A company can give you the cheapest rates, but if they won't stand behind you and don't have customer service, what good are they?
I'd rather pay a little extra to have an insurance company who will stand behind me and provide good service, than pay less to a company who could give a shiz less about me... follow???
Keep it commin everyone and thanks so far!!!

i just got done recently researching online about car insurance prices. I was currently paying around $950 for 6 months at Safeco.
Esurance quoted me the lowest online, but I researched what people said about them online. Some people said that their premium rose unexpectly or they had other problems. But, there were a lot of people satisfied. They might have never needed to file a claim, though.
I found that Allstate had a close quote price. I ended up buying insurance from them since they have the new car replacement program, accident forgiveness, and other premium benefits. Plus, it was just over $600 per 6 months for me. And that's for my Supra at only liability and the tC for full coverage.

I changed to esurance from state farm and I am saving way more money. Esurance has great customer service, 24 hours, AND THEY SPEAK ENGLISH. One guy talked to me like I was his friend, very nice.
The only thing I dont like about esurance is that I cant insure my motorcycle with them, they dont have boat or cycle coverage.

I have esurance
My first car with them was a 05 IIP 5 speed Tc
I totalled my car last May 06
They offered me more then my Tc was worth, and I got an 07 Auto NB Tc. Things moved pretty smootly, not to rough.
My rates didn't sky rocket after I totalled my car, like my roommates did when he totalled his mazda 3.

I have esurance and totalled my 01 civic last march, leading me to my 06FMtC...
They totalled my Civic quickly...my rates have not gone up much, but i was able to get the following too close ticket dismissed...got me my money quickly, and paid the other party and had them sign off any additional claims (in my experience, medical claims can wind up coming down the road) right away...They have a great auto-payment system that sends you an e-mail like 5 days b4 (so you can make sure there's $$ in your account!)...
When I got dismissal on the ticket, the court wanted the payment/signing proof that esurance paid, and they got me the paperwork right away...still have a clean record!
I say go ahead, things have been great w/ them...
