At what point do MY rights as a citizen come into play? My rights meant nothing to these officers just as many others in the past.

wait then why do we have "freedom of speech" if you get fined for using it???

^^ Already filed a harassment claim this morning against the officers. I'll be looking for the dash cams/mics to help my case. The towing company took extra care of my car and charged me for it! Haha it was a $40 fee for being lowered.

I really doubt you could do anything to fight it. I got a ticket while stopped at a stop sign by a cop who just drove up from a side street. When I fought the speeding ticket in court they said an officer can give you a ticket at any time for any reason for 'officer's opinion'. $700 ticket for sitting at a stop sign eating french fries.

I'm not trying to get the officers in trouble by filing harassment charges. Just wanted it noted for when I go to court. I will dispute the disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and obstructing an officer. Because in no way shape or form did I resist arrest, obstruct an officer, or offend anyone with my conduct.

I will not stand to be pushed down by these kind of people. What they did was WRONG and I will do everything in my power so that it never happens again.

well i hope they had dash cams, because if they didnt its going to be pretty hard to prove you didn't resist because they can say whatever they want. A lot of times though if you get a lawyer it helps out a lot on what they actually charge you with.

I've just retained an awesome lawyer. He's pursuing dash cams and hopefully everything will work out.

yea cops are not supposed to arrest for the middle finger or a curse word unless it is around the public. Theoretically they make is so 'officers are not supposed to be offended by this' so generally they don't make an arrest.

You were in a bad situation, and should not have to pay a dime. It was a wrongful arrest, they guys were looking for a lawsuit. Take it as far as you can!

The lawyer fee was $1,500. I'm trying to find a cheaper lawyer as the tickets are only $1,200 and he may not be able to dismiss them all.

Everything about the "arrest" was wrong and I too hope they get what they deserve.

I hope you sue them and get them punished to the fullest extent you possibly can.
Yes, because our world would be so much better without cops. They serve a purpose. Some cops are bad, but do we hear about the good things cops do? No. Media doesn't care about the good. It's a corrupt world where only the bad things get publicized. And most people hate the cops because they got caught doing something wrong. It's not the cops fault for your speeding or not stopping at the stop sign, etc...

I've talked to a cop about cursing and she said that if it's not directional to the cop or offensive, they can't do anything about it.

Sounds like they went too far, but it might have just been one big misunderstandment and hopefully this can all be resolved without much of a fuss. Sounds like you hit the wrong cops at the wrong time, has there been allot of problems with crime or drugs in your area?that might explain why they where edgy with you to begin with he probably thought you where a drug dealer or something.

I try to look at it from their point of view. When they approach my car they don't know what I have in my car, who is in the backseat with what. They come into the situation already on guard and for some people doesn't take much to set them off after that.

Try to get a lawyer who does probono work if you can't afford one he can atleast tell you where you stand legally and what you have grounds on. Just my opinion.

Any attorney should be willing to take the civil case you will bring against the city without anything up front, because he will get a portion of the settlement or judgment if you win. Thats how it usually works if they evaluate your case and believe they will be able to win it or at least settle out of court for a decent some of money.

Robo gets it. There are bad people in every profession. Doctors who have violated patients, auto mechs who have screwed with peoples rides and killed them, and food service folks who spit/throw pubes into food.

All of the worst get the attention of the media- because with news channels on 24x7 they need interesting juicy stories to keep up the viewer numbers. Every day 1000's of police interact with the public in a perfectly acceptable manner and really do good things for the general populous

I've done 1000's of hours of work as a federal LEO and managed to not have any issues with the public. Know/worked with 100s of other LEOs who have the same (or longer) records.

All that said- IF Snows story is true- They were outta line. I would be interested to see both what the cops say about it and what the videos show. Good luck getting your situation worked out.

wowo thats a crazy story ! I hope everything works out for you.

Sounds like those cops were _____bags, but i would have to agree that not all of them are like that. I met some great cops and some __bags with attitude, but mostly i dealt with good ones either thru my former job selling cars or throught military. When i get pulled over i shut down the car and put the keys on the roof of the car why you ask ? Thats because i want them to know i mean no harm to them and that makes them think safer. I used to take out all 5 of my PBA cards and present them with my drivers license and regestration/insurance for the vehicle and i've been let off with a warning more then ticketed. I've never had a chance to use my military ID because luckily i havent been pulled over in almost 3 years and i plan on keeping it that way as after the military i plan on transfering to NYPD or any department that will take me in the NY tri-state area.

The standards to be a cop are set to low unfortunately. With the responsibilities and duties they are expected to carry out what do you expect? What happens when you have uneducated people carrying guns and tazers? If all these cases of police misconduct surprise you I am sad for you. To become ANY cop, there should be a mandatory 4 year bachelor degree requirement. Would this solve all problems? No. But I strongly believe it would solve at least 50% of the problematic officers.

Yes I'm not completely against authority or anything. I understand I did something wrong. I was driving without a license. Fine I accept full responsibility. And Brunes is right their are bad people in every profession. Doctors, mechanics, and food service techs. However police officers especially bad. Police officers very very much so affect my daily life. Sure if someone spits in my food I'm going to be ____ed. But to tarnish my record with this BS because of the officers issues with me regardless is just not acceptable.

I'm excited to see what the discovery will show. I know for a fact that my story is true and in no way was I trying to glorify myself or discredit the police officers. The video will not tell any lies. I have a meeting on Monday morning to go over the tapes and figure out what action I will be pursuing.

My main motivation here is to know that my rights as a citizen ARE protected and not just abused. I do not wish to escape every fine as I would consider myself guilty of some. (exhaust, license, reg, tint). I just hope JUSTICE is served and the political aspect of our world doesn't take over and F me in the A.

And believe me. I am NOT surprised at their actions. I've been dealing with dirty cops since I was old enough to push the gas pedal. I am down right TIRED of being harassed by people like this. Maybe its for self gratitude. I'd sleep much better at night knowing I did everything I could to protect myself in the end.

dude if they dont tell you why they are holding you/ pulled you over for right when get pulled over, you can flip them the middle finger and drive off. They have to give you a reason right away. if they pull you over ask for your license and registration and then go back to their car and your sitting there like wtf did i do.... they arent allowed to do that, but rest assured they can just lie and say they did if you try to fight it. ive got a good story about when ive gotten pulled over in my tc....ill post it up in here later.
