Default fading paint

ok i have a quick question ....i have a 05 tc flint mica. the paint is still very good except on the hood for some wierd reason the hood is starting to fade really bad i tried polish and waxing, that didnt work. then i tried clay bar and all and that didnt work either. i was just wondering if any one else has had similar problems with this ...I think all i can do is re-paint the hood or get a carbon fiber hood which ever is cheaper. any response would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Any pics?

How do you wash your car anyways? Do you wash at home? Automated carwash (I hope not)? Or, those self-car wash stalls (25 cents)?

I was thinking one of your cloths/wash mitt got contaminated by something (e.g. brake fluid, etc.). You don't use your them anywhere else, do you? Plus do you use a separate set to wash/clean your wheels too?

Ya i use seperate mitt to wash car and wheels. but even then i always wash both mitts after every wash. I cant figure out as to why its fading already my tc is only 3 years old. I had a 94 honda accord b4 my scion n it started fading on the food also but its was already 14 year old car. I think i just have bad luck with black cars lol

if it has a cloudy white look to it, it's probably sun damage. my '05 ssm has some on the parts of my front and rear bumpers that get the most sun exposure.

well i've had my ssm since august '04, and i just started to notice it last month. so that's 3.7 years of continuous exposure to the elements. honestly between this and people playing bumper cars in parking lots, i'm starting to get past caring.

Hmm..do you wax your car regularly?

I'd say get a SEIBON carbon fiber hood and just be sure to wax it regularly-- I've never had any problems/fading with my seibon cf hood/trunk lid and I've had them for about 4-5 years!

i usually wax weekly unless i get lazy - then i skip a week. i clay a lot too. only use the products that will prevent oxidation. don't use cheap soap, etc. it's all on the upkeep. the sun is brutal, even where you're at. you just have to stay ahead of the sun.

i would recommend doing what i do, and even more so - buying a car cover and putting it on the car when it's parked outside for long amounts of time.
