^^Yea that is all i was saying is the first water that comes out is nasty, it is not super clean. I have a pic from the sprinkler that blew up in my work, it was straight black for a minute or two.

holy young jeezy, and the ironic part is that you park far away in the parking lot at work to avoid problems with your car. i park far too, maybe i should stop parking so close to that light pole?

Ya, it is ironic cuz its only myself and my friend with the GTI that truely care about our car, and we just got word today they are BOTH totaled. Im thinking about buying it back and just saving money for a year or 2 (or 3) and see if that "Toybaru" ever comes out...

Today is a sad day...

To answer your question about the insurance...If they total it out they will take in consideration how many miles and all that and give you the KBB value of the car, if it is more than you still owe than you will get what's left, if it is less than what you still owe then you will still owe, and then at that time you will need to take him to court...

You owe $20,000
Car is worth $15,000
You still owe $5,000

You owe $10,000
Car is worth $15,000
You recieve $5,000

Sorry, that's just the ____ty thing about it, but you can take him to court for the remainder, or if you have GAP insurance you can get them to pay the deductible for that and it will cover the remainder of what you owe, but you will be dead even and still have to pay for another car on your own...

Bottom line...Take his ___ to court...

did you see how high that water was shooting up?

its like asking somebody to catch the guy on the other end of the fire truck hose. IMPOSSIBLE!

BUT.... maybe it wasnt that powerful since not even the roof shattered. but to be honest if that would be my car i would have try it from the passenger side and back it out from there.

good thing is that it's totaled. now you can start thinking about what to get next. i WOULD NOT buy back your tC. you will have so many electrical problems, it's ridiculous. you'd be wasting more money on a flood vehicle than you would on a new/used car.

if you've got a baby on the way, i would look into getting a 4 dr. wrx is looking pretty good these days...

The water shooting out would hurt you, but its not like the water was being forced down out of the sky. It was just falling. It couldn't have done that much harm could it?

if the OP said he wanted a 4 door, why suggest a coupe?

also, trying to save the car would NOT have been worth it. that's a ____ load of water and comes down pretty hard i'm sure. the glass roof has to be reinforced to with stand the pressure if the car gets into a vehicle accident.

i wouldn't buy it back either. why would you if you have kid on the way? for the POSSIBILITY of the Toyota-Subaru colab.

If I had any idea the water was getting into the car, I might have tried to get in and move it, but I was afraid the intake was soaked (which it was). Opening the door and getting in would have filled the car with water, and starting the car would have flooded my motor. So, I sat there and watched and hoped no water was getting in.

I find out Monday what they are going to give me for it, and then I have to make my decision what to do next. My dad works for Scion so I might get another one, seeing as how I can get a little discount and already have rims and a ton of parts...

yeah, you gotta remember, force equals mass times acceleration. so thousands of gallons of water (water weighs 8 pounds per gallon IIRC) and acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 meters per second squared, so that large volume of water from the hydrant is like like years and years of sitting out in the rain compressed to just a few moments. water can crush and erode just about anything with enough time and volume.
