Like everyone says...you seriously need to ask the dealer why you have an 05 hu .

what's going on here dude, '05 radio but '06 steering wheel? Something's not right...and the fact you're all wearing sweatshirts and it's july. Doesn't look photoshopped, but, i'm not sure. Take a pic of the odometer and the '06 radio man.

How did he get a license plate so fast also? Wouldn't it have dealer plates if he just got it?

He transfered plates from his old car probably.

The dealership probably installs their own CD players and the service tech probably grabbed another 05 radio with no idea that there was a change for 06. I'm sure you can get this taken care of easily.

My car was bought on a Monday, picked up 4 days later on a Friday and it had brand new plates on it when it left the lot.

so to get the steering wheel controls it looks like you would probably have to buy a new airbag, or at least a new airbag cover (i'm not sure if the cover is attached to the airbag) and the two silver parts with and without the controls. that could be expensive. but it looks like you'd be able to keep your wheel part of the steering wheel.

As for him wearing a sweatshirt in July... he lives here in my state, OREGON. It's raining outside right now, and probably in the 50s.

And those aren't the normal Oregon plates, they're Crater Lake plates, which I think take longer to get than regular ones. Could be he didn't want to pay more for the crater lake plates again and he possibly could have had custom lettering also or something. Which dealership did you go to man? I was at the one on Mclaughlin the other day witha friend buying his 05, and they said the 06's were still a few months out.

the dealer installed the '05 headunit... i think there are extra connections on the back for steering wheel controls.. i thought so, don't know where i saw that..

you should definitely go the dealer and DEMAND an '06 headunit.. probably would have less problems than our '05's but definitely print out that picture of the '06.. you paid for '06 get '06 stuff..

at least we now know the steering wheel will work with an 05HU.
Now the search begins for an 06 steering wheel...

wow guys thanx for all the replies. first of all i got it from broadway toyota in Portland, OR. Donovan Ungerman was the salesman. It is an '06 for those of you that dont think it is. It does have the new steering wheel. but it doesnt work with the HU so i am most definitely going to get the '06 HU. they messed up for sure. the tires are yokohama which i think is new for '06 but not sure. as for the plates the dealer has plates. u choose the style and pay for title and registration on the spot. very efficient. ill take more pix

thanks for the info. i guess the controls on the steering wheel wouldnt work with the 05 HU after all. Oh well...congrats on your new 2006 tc! let us know if you get any rattles! hopefully they fixed the problem with that. The rattles on mine are driving me crazy.

If the steering wheel controls don't work with the 05, at least we know the harness in the back is the same. So that does lend some hope for an 06 iPod unit being retrofitted to an 05.

Let us know when you get yoru 06 radio in it.

And, does your car appear to have the rattles and noises that were common with the 05's?
