flat tire, but punctured rim. wtf? *pics*

I'm completely baffled. How can a blunt bolt like that go cleanly through the rim?! I mean theres not any evidence of the metal aroundn it even being pushed up and no rough edges around it...weird..thats crazy man, good luck on getting it fixed!

Why does everyone say "sue" so fast? I've worked in construction since I was 16 and I've seen this exact same thing a few times. Couple of times I've seen it as the result of driving over a piece of rebar, once from light pole studs, and once from a concrete stake. Alloys will not take that kind of abuse and come away clean no matter who makes them. You can go ahead and try to sue whomever you like but Scion didn't put the bolt in the the path of your can and they certainly didn't steer your car over it. Road hazard, plain and simple.

jump off of a 3 foot wall and land straight onto a bolt like that and see if it goes threw your foot
imagine what a 3000lb car moving at 20-30 mph and hitting a 3/8 bolt, it would probably puncture and aluminum engine block nevermind a maybe 1/2 thick aluminum rim

Was the road freshly paved? Maybe a lazy DOT worker left it in the road and it finally came out enough to do some damage. That sucks though. I would go back to the scene of the crime and look for any leads. Good luck

Thats crazy dude !! I've never seen that before. As stated above.....aluminum is a cheap/soft pliable metal. Damn dude... I feel for ya. Just make sure you get the new wheel/tire balanced and aligned.
Sparks Toyota.....hmm......interesting.
