hey kris...just thought i would drop a line about all your questions.

springs...it all depends on how you drive, and how you wanna look. i personally am a straight line man, so that means i want power not handling so i dont really car about suspension geometry on the streets. i also want my car to look low, and clean. so i have the H-techs rite now and i like them, but they arent low enough, neither are the s-techs. im gonna go with springtech springs all around which are a 2.5 inch drop all around, it looks MEAN.

lights.... i have the TYC's on and i love them. however since they are LED's i can afford to tint them darker than stock lights cuz they are brighter. im thinking of doing a 20% tint on the taillights which should be cool with the popo and if not, then hey its cool.

tinting the window.... i love dark tinted windows, so im doing a 20% tint up front, and double 5% in the rear, with a 50% tint on the windshield, the whole windshiled not just the visor. im cool with the cops, and i have a friend who does CHP inspections haha. but the rear will be dark, like i painted the windows...the front isnt too dark, and the windshield will look charcoal.

i usually dont like white girls, but your a pretty one haha

I finally picked up my FM tonight. I'm so in love with it. I was talking to one of the service guys at the dealership about tinting and he said that if you got DOUBLE tint at 35% on the inside and outside of your windows, it would look twice as dark but still only read as 35% to a cop's light meter. He seemed to think he knew what he was talking about, but what do you guys think? Is it BS?

 

ummm im pretty sure that it will read different, cuz thats dark.

 

it's false. The tint meter reads how dark it is, and not what % the actual tint was. I've never heard of doing double layers, but you'd probably be safer doing 15% all arround. Assuming my calculations are correct, You'd have 12.25 tint. Wich I believe is illegal in VA but I'm not 100% sure. I know it's ileagal in MD.

Also I wouldnt recommend putting tint on the outside of the windows, if you want dark tint just do the inside ( within the law of your state of course ). I have never heard of what the guy was talking about to you. Grats on your buy FM is a great choice

 

Thanks guys, you're probably right. I think I'd be nervous about putting tint on the outside of the windows anyway -- I'm sure it'd get scratched to hell in no time at all. 35% is what's legal in Virginia, and I'm debating whether or not to go illegal and take it down to about 15 or 20, or just leave it at 35%. Have you guys had problems getting your car to pass inspection with an illegal tint? They were pretty strict about that in New Jersey (where I'm from originally).... not sure what the reaction will be in VA.

I'm so loving my FM. As soon as I picked it up last night, I took it home and installed the door sills, OBX shift ****, and pedals. It looks HOT. I couldn't be happier with it!

 

I wouldn't reccomend doing it.. unless you enjoy getting it taken off later.. I had my windows done with 20% back when I first got it.. a year or so ago.. got busted and had to take that crap off.. it sucks.
