Gas Tank Issue (inner metal flap)
I have only had my tC for a couple weeks and have only put in fuel three times.
When I went to put in gas i noticed that there was no little metal flap on the top end of the tank. The one that gets pushed in when the nozel goes into the tank.
I want to say that i did see it there before but i honestly dont recall.
Does the tC have that metal flap on the top of the tank (3" down)?
If it does has anyone elses fallen into the tank?
I called Scion Dealer ; they had no answer and told me to bring it in ( <--warrenty labor hogs)
Thanks

don't worry about the flap not being there.. toyota doesn't have that flap on fuel filler neck. I too wondered about that but i was able to find the service manual online and it clearly shows that they have eliminated the flap. They took a different approach to the fuel emission controls. Even my parents sienna 2004 minivan doesn't have it and the corolla's i have rented don't have this flap either..

US emissions regulations no longer require the flap, only the small hole.
The spring-loaded flap was there to prevent people from pumping leaded gas from a large nozzle into the tank by holding the end of the large nozzle against the hole.
Since there is no more leaded gas, the flaps became more trouble than they were worth. I don't even see why they keep the restrictor unless they are worried about someone fueling with Diesel.
