Gauge install and new trick...
Over the last two weekend I have been installing new Autometer gauges in a Creative Compacts 3 gauge pillar pod. The gauges look great, and I found a new trick for running wires through the firewall where the main wire harness goes through.
Basically I snipped off the end of the "tube" (looks like it would be a rubber coated bolt) that is on the drivers side of the wire harness. One the end is off I took a Bic pen (with the guts removed so that it is just a tube) and slid it into the end of the rubber tube. A little dish soap was needed and it slid right in. The pen is plenty long to stick out both inside the car and in the engine compartment. Then you just run your wires through the pen (well, small wires anyway). Before you hook up any of the wires just pull the pen out of the firewall and the grommet will close up around them.
