That's what I'm talking about. I guess since your hood is most often closed, it just isn't a big deal. And when you think about it, the hood rod that comes stock is only on one side, although the support is probably a bit more even because it's from the front. But just the same, I kinda wish it had two. But I think if you check out the manufacturer web page, most of the kits have two, but the Elite kits (like ours) only have one and it's made from better materials. Since this one is made to hold the whole hood, if you had two of these, it would open way to fast, I'd think. I think they only offer this kind because of something about the way our engine compartment is situated. But if they did have a two rod kit, you'd probably have to replace what you've got.

For some reason I just want one of these. I figure I'll get this or a short shifter or something else around the $100 mark... just not sure what.

Well, the rod is for sure quality. I'll let it fly for a while and see how it works long term. It is just too cool to open the hood this way. Something so simple that used to be standard

I see they finally got the install manual for the tc on their website. I'm ordering one, I think it's a cool idea.

Hello Everyone,
The tC kit has a mono spring design due to clearance issues on the left side of the engine compartment. There is no twisting motion on the hood due to it being a short hood with a stiff design. No worries for your car, our kit will function flawlessly for years!

Andreas

Wow... a thread back from the dead. I guess the moral of the story is that if you want to replace something cheap (the stock hood prop) with something much nicer but different (a pressurized gas cylinder), it's going to cost a lot more money than the original piece of metal would have.

80 bucks to hold your hood up? in my old truck i propped the hood open with a broom stick... worked great for years. i dont see the need for something like this other than... "wow, my hood stays up by itself " maybe $20 - $25 this would interest me.
