Like I said, most car alarms now have an option to have it added on. You will just have to ask about it. Or you can go look at other car alarms like viper.
Here are some other links that you might be interested in (basic car alarms):

http://www10.epinions.com/pr-Securit...ay_~full_specs This one seems really cool and comes with the remote starter
http://www.autotechs.com/cat58.htm (if you already have a car alarm)
And here is a list of 2-way car alarms... this is prolly your best bet:

turns out i was wrong, you don't talk into it, but you do use a cell phone that calls the car. kind of a crazy thing. i like it because you can control up to 72 things on your car...if you can find that many things to control on it.

it doesn't have a siren, but you could add one if you want. it has remote start...it can basically control anything you want. headlights, windows, locks, stereo etc. and as far as anti theft goes. you can disable whatever you want so that someone can't jack your car. i.e. fuel pump, ignition...it goes on.

1 - happy birthday
2 - Does it send you a text message when the car has been broken into? Or like I asked before... is it primarily a controller?
Does it send text messages to you to confirm that what you wanted it to do has been done?

i think it's just a controller. i'm talking to him again this weekend to find out more. because i had the thought that..."what if someone else finds out my car's phone number?"
that would suck if just anyone could call it.
no it doesn't send a confirmation back to you.
thanks

Yeah, I can see some bad things with it too, but mostly just good things. The bad things are out weighted by the good...
The only things bad I can see:
1. It may be costly. As I looked into it further, a GSM calling card for emergencies is not that easy to find. It was advertised that you could get one for 12 months at about $100. But I am not so sure this is the case... that or I am just not talking to the right people.
2. It's access with a cell phone... the system does have a password on it, so you have to either call from your phone or put in your password. This could be annoying if someone else gets the phone number and password. However, it will only be annoying until you realize that someone is doing something and you change the password (which is an option).
Having someone else get the number to the phone could also be bad because the GSM calling card is supposed to be for emergencies only. Having someone call it all the time could make it cost more as well. But, you can always change the number...
I think everything else has been taken care of. What else can you see bad with it?

No, you got the wrong idea. This IS an alarm, and it uses your cell phone, NOT a pager.
This alarm gives you the ability to control your car from your cell phone via sms messaging (from one particular number) or a series of commands in the in-call automated system that it supplies. You can arm / disarm the car, start the car, cut off power / fuel and many other options.
One thing in partiuclar that I liked about it, is that if your car does get stolen, not only can you just shut off the engine from any where the phones get service, but you can call the phone and "listen" to the perps in the car. I believe that the particular model that I was looking at gives the ability to talk through a speakerphone to the perps as well.

Dude, you are the shiznit! Where the hell were you when I was asking about this before?
I searched for a while and didn't find that page. The best thing I could find, like I said earlier, was a system that was being used in Malaysia. I also found a couple in China but those you had to buy in bulk.
I am going to try this system out! (Of course, I have to either save up the money or run it by the warden... but I WILL get it).

CompuSTAR has the CompuTRACK. Don't know how long they've had this, but it's pretty close to GSM, if not identical. The site isn't too detailed though. http://www.compustar.com/
