I pulled up to the side of the road in a neighborhood that I have never been to and this guy comes out of his garage to compliment my car. I look into his garage and he has a brand new 3 series convertible and he's oogling my car. He asked me a few questions starting with, "what kinda car is that?" and I went into the whole explanation of what a Scion is and such. He asked a few more questions and I answered him as well as possible.

Anyways, the real reason that I am posting this is because I was wondering what kind of cars the people drive that have complimented your car. Sorry can't think of a better wording for that.

 

you should of asked him if he wanted to trade cars.

 

just last night...an old man with a navigator ask me at the gas station. I didnt know he was checking out the tc because I was checking out an IS300 in front of me. when i finished pumping and opened my door, i saw him looking at the tc on the otherside. he said "nice car, it looks new". I told him i only got it 3 weeks ago. then he looked at the scion badge on the back and tried to read and pronounce it. he asked what kinda car and i told him scion but deep down inside it was a toyota. I told him that scion is another branch of toyota like lexus. then he asked if all the stuff inside the car was standard and i smiled and gave a yes. I told him it costs about 18 thousand after taxes. then he was really impressed. I told him the gas mileage it gets and he said I get twice as much than his navigator. then i told him that it was a good small talk but I had to go so the line at the gas station wont be long. i love this car.

 

yeah i feel the same.. have had others asking me what it is..

let's see.. who i can remember asking me about it..

- a guy who thought it was the new BMW or Audi..
- an audi driver that wasn't sure if it was the BMW..
- an olds aurora driver who wanted to know where he could buy one, like all the people are, he was shocked how much it was..
- Had a couple cops at a supermarket checking out the car, but guess they didn't want to come over to talk..

- A woman in an envoy wanted to trader her gas guzzling suv for this car
- An older man in his 70's wanted to check it out at McDonald's.. hey of course gotta be nice to the older folks.. He said "that's what detroit has to start building, but hey I'm getting to old to wait.. I'm gonna check that out"
- A vette owner pacing me trying to catch a glimpse..

You get the idea.. It's like the people pacing me on the highway have this look on their face like I'm driving a prototype or something, because I live in michigan and you see Ford and GM prototypes on the road all the time.. I think it's funny but hey I kinda like the attention

 

People drive 35K+ look at our new car which they dont know because they aint interested (they would know if they are in their price range), theirs worth 2x-4x of our scion costs. Yea they might look at ours and ask, wow what kind of car is this? Then u tell them everything, they would probably think it is good bang for the buck. Minute later, they wouldnt care ****, they still drive their nice 35K car not even going to think bout ours. But hack yea i damn sure love my tc, so glad didnt get the c230

This one guy in a G35 also complimented me too.. at the light near this resturant that I was going too.. rolled my window down, and he was like "hey brah.. thats a pretty phat ride.. what is it?"

 

some people who liked it are people of every range.

-I catch little kids, and they give you thumbs up, or NICE CAR!!! and i wave back at them hehe.

-poor to rich check it out,

I even see these older people look at it like WTF a few times thinking what is that I bet, then look at my rims that say Axis, and probably tell people they seen some nice car called an Axis ahha...

-But the range of love for this car is wild! Def a pimp ride ;)

 

chicks....and also, a cop 2 weeks ago who gave me a speeding ticket said, "this is a pretty cool car, slow down in it, id hate to see you lose it " haha

 

The only people who have said something to me are the friends and family I show it to. I occasionally catch someone peeking at it with that "wtf is that?" kind of look. But no one ever actually asks (gas stations, whatever)... not yet anyways.

 

haha. i almost had the same experience as you with the cop, only he let me go. i was goin 95 of the freeway. he said some like "i like your car a lot, i would hate to see you lose a new car like this. i'm going to let you off with a warning this time." something to that extent. he asked me a few questions about it too, and then he saw my CD case on my passenger side seat and we began to talk about bands. apparently he likes ska also. who knew some cops can be cool.

i've had a guy with a suped up s-10 give me "mad props" on my car.
a guy in a wrx impreza give me a thumbs up once. i ran into him at Ralph's and he was like "hey your that guy with the scion (SKY ON).

and just a bunch of other people eyeing my car while i'm on the freeway.

 

Ive had someone knock on my window to compliment the car. I have introduced myself to new people at work and they would say "oh, youre the scion guy". Ive had people come out of stores they are in to ask me about my car. Its a great feeling.

The funny thing is for every compliment I get for my tC, I get side comments like "whats the other scion, the box??....that is the ugliest thing I have ever seen"

Its usually always a scion compliment and insult combo.
(I mean no disrespect to xB owners, just sharing my experiences)

 

Hey, Its all good, allot of people think my car is ugly, and a lot of people think my car is cool, I am very happy that people think my car is ugly, the uglyier it is, the greater chance that there are fewer of them on the street. Okay, time for my experence....Driving around Austin, trying to find my way, a guy pulled up next to me in a Ferrari, we stop at a light and he signals for me to mute my stero, Nice ride he says, wanna race? we both laugh and he says, No, seriously, that is a Phat car, I have one on order with all the extras, I am tired of driving this, it makes me sick everytime a bug hits it. I guess I got a real jealous look in my eye cuz he said somthing about how he just got a great job and was celebrating when he got the Ferrari, but he wants somthing he can just cruise around in, and that if I work harder I will have one too, I said I dont want a Ferrari, I want a Lotus, he smiled, and said, well i love your car, and I guess the light had been green for a little bit cuz someone honked, and he speed off, wow, it was sooo cool, I still have dreams about it Oh, and sorry I am posting on a tC thread, I just had to reply to this one.

 

a guy who had a se-r complimented mine, and after i told him how much i paid for it he was jealous. His Se-R didnt even come with nice rims! he loved the stock rims on the tC he had gaga eyes on my tC then i started it up and i bet he was thinking..I DIDNT EVEN GET AN EXHAUST!!

 

i get compliments on my car all the time ... latest one was my com teacher (who by the way is a cutie). and i was leavin the parking lot and she sees me, she like OH MY THATS YOUR CAR ... and i was like yeap ?? shes like next time we have class you need to let me know about it and where to find it ... and the next day of class i sure did

 

Yea, I had a guy in a 3 series BMW almost roll into the back of another car looking at mine.... made my day

 

No one has ever bad mouthed my car, ever person that has seen it up close has said that it is a sweer ride, except my friend Lunchbox but he is 6'5" and 300+ and is ____ed casue he can't fit in the back of the tC! Other than that nothing but compliments, I love my car!

 

with a name like "lunchbox" he should be an XB owner... and hey its more spacious too

 

Tons of people have said things about the car - mostly about the rims though.

 

I've had a guy in a modded S4 ask me about my car. Was pretty cool.
