Default Hatch Slam

Not sure if this has been posted or not so i thought id give it a shot....

The other day i found out my hatch slams down the hard way. I was getting something out of my trunk the other day and then all of a sudden the hatch slammed with full force on my back. You can just imagine how much pain i was in considering most of you guys know how heavy that stinking trunk is on the tC.

It seems like the shocks do not work in cooler weather (below 45 degrees) and works perfectly fine in warmer weather. It is actually getting pretty annoying considering that is has been getting cold in Chicago as of late.

Anyone else experiencing this problem? I will post a video of it slamming when i get home from school.

Wow, thanks for the FYI.

I live in Sunny So Cal but I do travel to Arizona where it gets into the 30's in the winter. I can't imagine that this is solely reserved for the tC though. Anyone know anything about it happening in an xB too (that is the car that normally goes to AZ on the weekends)?

Um... thats gonna leave a mark :o(

Ouch, that does suck. I had my explorer do it before as well on me, the air in the rods should be cold due to the weather and this would also create less presure on the hatch. I am not sure if you have brought this to the attention of your dealer.

^^ i doubt it... alot of other cars have issues with their struts in cold weather..

it's normal and expected..

If you ever get car wax on a hatch strut, it's done.

OUCH... I say you sue for your "back injury" on the basis of inadequate warning that the hatch can fail in cold weather (if thats what causes it).
