Hellllooooo SCIONLIFE!
How ya'll doin?
Well I have been a troll for several months...even before I purchased my 05' Scion Tc in March of this year. I have to admit I was a Scikotic (or however you spell their name) member before I found this site...and wow this site blows any other Scion Forum to dust!
I absolutely LOVE all the tech articles...there is so much to do to my Tc that I have itchy wallet!
Currently it is like this...100% bone stock except for only one "mod" (which you really cant call it that) is a 4300k HID kit from xenondepot (3 years old and still 100% awesome)
Anyways I have a question burning in my mind about where to take this car. One of the tech articles dealt with wheels and changing them up. I have to say I drooled over the one with the black spokes while leaving the inside rim silver.
Poll Time!
Please let me know if it would be better to leave them stock or take the plunge and paint them / have them powdercoated.
Anyways, I suck at photoshop (actually I use fireworks, but same thing), but I did a mock up of what I think its going to look like.
I am digging it, my wife went Ewwwww...so I dont know.
Future mods also include:
- Acura TSX Headlight retrofit (man that's expensive but so worth it)
- Vinyl eyebrows for the headlights
- LED tailights (the solid red ones, not altezza)
- OEM Front lip (I hate the ones with the holes in it)
- VRD (is that right) front fogs
- Black out the bumper (Yes, I know many of you hate it, but I have yet to see a single one here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex)
And in case there are any classic car buffs, my main money pit is my 1966 Mustang Restomod
- 302 V8 bored .40
- 5 speed out of a 93 GT
- 4 point racing harnesses
- High back leather seats from a 93 SC2
- Rear seat delete
- 05 Mustang wheels
- GT350 Suspension drop
- Filler cap glassed over
- LED tail lamps
- Custom from headlamps with integrated turn signals (though if my retrofit goes well, I might make the first EVAR 1966 Mustang projectors)
Here she is...3 years of hard work and shes still not done:
Nice to meet you all, again this is the best forum I have found to date...I hope to be a long time member and contribute soon with 2 new tech articles.

nice mustang. i say powder coat, but something different and whacky, something that some people will hate and some will love. ive seen that pattern a couple times and its noce but it isnt like the whacky lime green or orange, i say be creative, thats what the tc is for, individuality.

nice mustang!
and i agree with the previous posts, drop it first and save up for some nice rims.. or check out the classifieds for a great deal on some used rims, just keep checking until something comes up

Yea I don't know how your finances are but I wish I could save up for new rims.......but yea go for something different.........crazy color.
Mine are painted BBS Gold so that's not crazy but my wife's XB will have lime green rims within the next week or so
whatever you do just make sure it makes you happy and don't care what people think about your ride cause that's exactly what it is...........YOUR ride

Well thanks everyone for posting your opinions. And while I understand it is my car, I was talking to a friend last night who has an 05 Type S RSX and he said one of his most favorite cars was a lowered Tc...so I have determined after I do my retrofit on the lights, that is my next main mod.
Im gonna leave the wheels 100% stock.
But one thing has got me, I have driven a lot of vehicles that I have lowered (97 GS-R Integra, 99 Civic Si, 98 Contour SVT, My 1966 Mustang) and I really don't like having to constantly worry about ground clearance and an absolutely harsh ride. I saw someone mention TRD lowering springs that come FROM the Factory?
Anyone have any pictures of their ride on 100% TRD springs/struts? I have a cousin wit a 99 Teg on Tien coilovers and I abhor the ride (my kidneys fell out....twice...true story) so I am curious about factory options that wont throw my camber/toe out.

I vote leave them be. Some places charge a lot for powdercoating, even if it costs $300, I'd put that money towards a set of aftermarket wheels. However, if you want a change, then paint them yourself but make sure you prep correctly. I can't tell you how many times I've seen jacked up stock wheels cuz they weren't prepped correctly. There's plenty of DIY's on here on how to paint/prep them.

I would have to say powder coat the wheels, ive been wanting to get my stock wheels done in black but i to like you have another car burning a hole in my pocket. Got me a 1970 mach1 mustang, that is my muscle car. Sadly i cant see your photos of your mustang, they arent showing up for me. Always have to appreciate a fellow classic mustang driver especially here in DFW. By the way i dig all the mods on your old mustang, mine is stock and wouldnt change a thing on her.

Sorry...sorry...sorry...I promised myself I wouldn't do such a noob thing but here I go and NOT use the search button...I apologize master...
I found this in one thread...in his sig he states TRD Springs...do the stock struts have enough dampening ability to handle lower springs?
Vas Finest's ride
