Scion dealerships do brake jobs for $270 per axle. When I hit 35,000 miles I needed my first brake job, but only the fronts. The back brakes can probably last to 60,000 miles or more. The Scion brake job is non-negotiable and includes new pads, machining the rotors, and oiling the calipers.

^ This is actually a really good price from Scion. Toyota wanted to charge me about twice as much to service the brakes on my old Echo. This Scion "pure price" concept is sometimes a good thing. I have always found Midas to be badly overpriced.

I don't know what part of Alexandria you live in, but I know a few places around there. I used to take my car to a service station right off King St. and 395. The prices were always fair... not to be mistaken for cheap, but they do good work. I think it is a Mobil station. I could be wrong.
I used to be petrified of touch my brakes figuring there were parts of my car I could tinker with and screw up, but those were not something I wanted to find out later I did something wrong. I did my first brake job in my folks' driveway a few months ago with my jack and some stands. It took a couple hours, but everything works. Total cost: $75.

Went to Midas Saturday at 10am. Car pulled into garage around 10:15am. Guy comes out at 10:45am and says new brakes needed for fronts. I say yes. Car finished by 12:00pm.
Car Wash Before Taking to Midas: $3
New Front Brakes on 2005 Scion tC: $214
Using Your Brakes for the First time without noise and complete smoothness: Priceless
Yeah people are probably laughing at me here. I don't care. I don't trust myself to fix brakes on my car. :D
