Help Key Stuck wont turn to lock
Hello everyone I could use some help I just bought a 06 scion tc and I love it well when I bought the car they gave me two keys one that I now know has a chip in it and one that was just a metal key. So I gave that one to my wife and I took the other one. well my wife went to drive my car and she couldnt start the car because it didnt have the chip. Here is where the issue is. we went to take the key out but it does not turn past the AAC position back to lock so the key is now stuck in the ignition. No the wheel is not locked and I can turn the car to on I just cant turn it to lock to pull the key out. This is a manual TC so its not a issue of it being in park. Please if anyone has any idea how to get this out that would be awesome!

I'd say this unusual, but the key without the chip is called a valet key, because it is meant for use by valets and adds some security as far as valuables in the glove box. The only differences are that it can't lock/unlock the glove box and doesn't have any remote features. All keys that come with the car have immobilizer "chips" inside of them because they are all made to lock/unlock doors and start the car. I don't know why the key is stuck, but it could be that the wheel is locked. Just turn the steering wheel left and right fairly hard and turn the key until it is free. Let me know how that goes.

The car did not come with a bare metal key which means somebody had that made. It is probably not cut correctly and is binding up in there. Just make sure you are pushing the key in while trying to turn it and if the cut is slightly wrong you make have to put some effort into it but make sure you are doing it so much that you bend or break the key.

im thinking he means the valet key too...it is just a key with a black head on it and no buttons. i dont think a bare metal key could start the car seeing as it wouldnt have a chip in it
